I agree, as well as, the The Five Stairsteps. Both were very underrated groups. New Birth has to be one of those great bands of the '70's that has gone under the radar. All we really know today of The Five Stairsteps is "Ooh Child."

They are so overlooked. This looks to be just a little bit ahead of the time gangs and cocaine crept up on our lives and communities. Folks dressed up nice to go out enjoy great well-rehearsed raw talent. Seeing them I feel the joy and pride of being a part of Black American music. I'm looking for that Unsung episode about New Birth. That's the great Londie Wiggins singing with the also great Wilson brothers and all the other 12 or 14 members of this combp group. One of my all time favorites.

Madtown7501: The opening number is a funked-up version of "I Just Want To Make Love To You" written by Willie Dixon and first recorded as a blues number by Muddy Waters in 1954 (sometimes listed as "Just Make Love To Me"), though the instrumental portion at the beginning was, more than likely, something the Nite-Liters put together themselves.

The "Soul!" TV show, produced by Ellis Haizlip over the pre-PBS WNET-Tv in New York was the precursor to Don Cornelius' "Soul Train" and provided exposure for singers, poets, Black leaders of that time including Ashford & Simpson (their first Tv appearance), Earth, Wind & Fire, Labelle, Jimmy Castor, Stevie Wonder, The Last Poets, Nikki Giovanni and Imamu Amiri Baraka. This particular show was aired November 1, 1972, unfortunately, right after Ann Bogan left the group, missing a golden opportunity to capture the subgroup Love, Peace & Happiness, who were replaced on the show with the Moonglows.
