Mango Park Police Officer Chambers is on patrol when he pulls over a vehicle for a routine traffic stop. As he is questioning the driver, the passenger in the back seat, attorney Aldon Stevenson, takes out his cell phone and starts recording video. When the driver gives Officer Chambers some attitude about why he was pulled over, the cop overreacts and pulls him from the car. While arresting the driver, Mr. Stevenson continues to take video of the altercation. See, here's my point, police agencies in the Wash DC area used the Assessment Center as part of hiring. It was 8 hours with a psychiatrist doing written tests and being interviewed. They do a complete personality profile of the candidate. This cop would not have passed and would never be hired. He had no probable cause for the stop. He was so far out of line it's unbelievable. He should be fired and criminally charged with battery. Cops like this are ruining our profession. I hope everyone keeps their cool when confronted. Keep you registration and insurance card in an envelope above your visor. That way your not reaching for the glove compartment. If you can, video everything always, if you cant, carry a notepad & pen. Write everything down. Time of stop, name of officers, actions. Never allow them to search your car. If they bring a K-9 expect a false alert. When they tell you about the dog tell them that's okay but you need everyone's names for your Internal Affairs Complaint. Keep your car clean inside especially vacuum daily. You can buy a small car vac that plugs into your lighter outlet. Vacuum your mats. That way they can't say they saw shake on your mat. Just a few tips from a retired Officer.
