Please do your research on when personal stylist became a job/career that people actually got paid for. Styling isn’t about making the clothes(although some stylist do). It’s about putting a look together with other designers clothing, shopping for the client, dressing them from head to toe, creating treatments for music video shoots, and then some.

I played that video endlessly, introducing it to all my friends. First off I would like to thank you for sharing this. I would also like to say a job well done. Great editing and documentation of black history, black queer history and afro diasporic history- showing how we do. All these people on Soul Train really helped each other out and showed true entrepreneurship and guts. I watched the show from back in the 70's and I knew i was different then as a child and now I see why i loved the show. With Tamechi's testimony here documented I am grateful. Never knew these facts. This was a great history lesson. Knew the fabulous clothes had to originate somewhere. He had the eye for what the dancers needed to wear and the direction the fashion needed to go in.. but he is correct, later in the yrs. Fashion kind of went out the window .. I enjoyed this interview so much. This what we the fans of the show needed... Glad he was persistent and kept at it. His hard work paid off because he knew where his superior talent layed and he went for it...much love and admiration to him...

Exactly...i was a Dancer on the show from 1977 - 1980. It was fun then but, the years before me were the best ever. From 1980 til the end of the show. To me, it just became silly.
