Is it true that there is a burn-in period on interconnect RCA cables? If so, what is it that happens to the cable over this period of hours that improves the sound quality over time?

Yes, it is true and can range anywhere from 100-300 hours (sometimes longer) depending on the quality of the cables. During the manufacturing process, gasses can be trapped between the insulation and conductor and the burn-in process releases these gasses. Additionally, burn-in dissipates the high electrical charges which exist in new cables from the manufacturing process. Once completed, burn-in allows for the best sound quality after the conductor has settled into its best conductive state. Thanks for the question!

Saved me $500. I have good RCA already so over 1 metre there is obviously no audible benefit getting a XLR pair.
