Thank you for pairing a Klipsch with the SA10,. The RP's lack of midrange wastes one of the Arcan' s strengths a rich midrange.

But, with an amp with a recessed midrange like the CXA61 it would sound worse

@@DougMen1 I demoed the Golden ear BRX today at the hifi shop and it was too bright, 1600 for a Chinese speaker... All roads are pointing me to the Paradigm 200B to pair with my SA10.

@@DougMen1 My c ridge Minx xl that I use now are stone neutral, I do want a little brighter than these, just amt tweeters are very bright.
@DougMen13 жыл бұрын
@@thomasward00 they don't have to be, like with any tweeter, it depends on the crossover, and the value of the resistor used to match the tweeter level to the woofer level, because tweeters are always higher sensitivity than woofers. Some designers use a resistor that matches the level of the tweeter to the woofer, and some use a smaller resistor to make the tweeter louder so the treble is higher in level, like Klipsch and B&W do

Arcam and KEF go together very well, but the Klipsch needs another amp.

The Arcam always has a bloated bass and a noticeable dip in the mids. That bass quality really stacks with the also-boomy KEFs.

I used to live just 30 minutes from Arcam. I used to have one of their then-vaunted Alpha cd players. Arcam just doesn't impress me at all.

I just can't get used to the sometimes nasal and shouty hornsound of the Klipsch, besides sounding thin. Everything normalizes when the 350's play, well balanced and far more 'real' and full sounding. Perhaps this amp is a bit too hot for the Klipsch, but my credits go to the 350's.

both sound pretty hollow honestly, either the amp has issues or the microphone used is not adequate.

Will these speakers work with a Sansui 660 receiver?

KEFQ350 sounds balanced with more mid bass and good midrange and very flat digital, like european sound designs. RP500M needs subwoofer to good bass balance are much more brighter, like american sound designs.
@DougMen13 жыл бұрын
KEF is the clear overall winner here IMO. The Klipsch sounds really good too, but it sounds a bit smaller and thinner than the 350. However, I'd be happy to own either one

Where Klipsch wipes the floor with KEFs are acoustic and live performance tracks. They sound incredibly 3D and real on Klipsch. On KEFs, they sound like shattered glass bouncing inside a thick cardboard box.

The Klipsch sounds less "muddled" than the KEF, but both of them sound way too bright for my taste tbh.

For me the klipsch has better sound separation.

The RP500's balance is slightly less exaggerated than the RP600's, but it's still far from nuetral. The Q350 has a more full and I think natural midrange balance, even if it's a bit too warm and not as opened and detailed as some people would like. Actualy it's treble quality is closer to the Klipsh's than I would prefer, but overall it's far more real sounding and enjoyable than the RP500's to me. Listen to 'Seasons' and the strings sound more like real strings, and vocals sound more like real voices. Even the bass sounds more fleshy and real.
@DougMen13 жыл бұрын
I was actually surprised that the RP500 sounds as close on some songs as it does to the 350, but on some other songs it sounds really much worse. Once again, it depends on how the songs are mixed as to whether they accentuate or hide a speaker or amp's strengths and deficiencies
@williammiebach17983 жыл бұрын
@@DougMen1 Yeah, most colored sounding speakers will sound good with some recordings and bad on others. Unless you prefer a colored sound, a balanced speaker will sound better on certain recordings, but rarely lousy. If it does then you know it's mainly not the speaker. Glad to see your still talking to my deluded ass.

@@DougMen1 I still have no idea what demo you were listening to with the KEF's and a jazz recording. It's not on his video menu, so it must be a really old one that just pops up underneath other youtube vids.
