Bronze 100 = 8 ohms nominal impedance down to 4.5 ohms, 87 db, 37-30k DBR62 = 6 ohm nominal impedance to 5 ohms, 86 db, 44-35k Very similar numbers, but different voicing. I find the Bronze tilted up with a thin mid section. The DBR62 has a weighty mid section, which is preferable to me.

It becomes very tasteful. Compare the Bronze 100 sound in previous videos with this video. In my opinion, the best combination is Bronze 100 with ARCAM 10 and CXA 61.

Elac DBR-62 sounds a lot better than the MA at least for me. Thank you @EProject for making this comparison video. All the best to you!!

I have the 100s and have heard the ELACs. The ELACs are great for the money, but the Bronze is a better speaker overall. If you want something more rolled off on the highs because you listen to a lot of bright music with poorly encoded MP3s, you'll find the ELACs a lot more forgiving. But just listen to the horns in Leroy On it from this recording of the speakers and think which one actually sounds like live brass, and which sounds like a recording, Maybe a recording playing in the other room...😂

This isn't even a debate, the MA's sound significantly better.

On one hand this has largely got to come down to personal taste, and individual perception of upper frequencys. On the other hand it's not that simple, because the DBR62s clearly have some coloration and lack of transparency in their midrange, wich even I who likes an extra touch of warmth and body there doesn't find quite natural and fully revealing.. I'd have to make the best of the Elacs, because the Bronze 100s, while less dippy and spikey in their mids are still too scooped out there, with an up-curving response all the way into the ultras I just can't deal with.

Hello. I bought an audiolab 6000a amplifier for my MA bronze 100 speakers. Its volume is adjusted not from 0 to 100, but from -- 78 to + 8. So here's the question. In what range is it better to adjust the sound so as not to burn out the speakers? I just read somewhere that you can't make the volume higher than certain values (50-60%).

I have the MA Silver 100 7g and they are spectacular. They do not sound as bright as the bronze in this video (could be room/recording etc) and they ooze detail, They take a while to break in.. Don't feel the need to upgrade anytime soon...

Yes the 100s are brighter, but they also just sound more 3D. Clearer and more well separated.

I have the bronze and find the tweeter just perfect to my ears. Gives a lot of details and clarity but never sound harsh

There is something with the DBR62s that bothers me, A LOT. It just doesnt sound right, especially in the midrange and top end. Mids can sound distant and stretched, highs surpressed like someone put a shelf on the top end. I have nothing to complain about the low end. As much as I dislike the Bronze, and you guys know how much I hate that speaker, I would take it over the DBR62. I think I have a new hate favourite. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

@@DougMen1 Believe me when I say my top 3 speakers on this channel are the exact ones you mentioned bar the Metas of course. If the R200 and 12.2 didnt exist, you better believe that I would have a 350 by now.

Mike, got the WiiM Mini Streamer to save using my laptop. Works perfectly into my new SMSL M500 Mkii DAC via optical and they've updated it to 24 bit 192 kHz throughput now (if that's of any interest to you ).

Mike, here is what I have to say about the Crown after testing in on my 12.4 and the R700 at the dealers. One word : BUY IT NOW. Ok thats 3 but you get the point. I was sceptical at first, I mean its a damn pro amp. That smirk was wiped off my face fast when I connected it to my 12.4s. Even at low volumes, the bass had so much control it seemed like they had every low frequency in the palm of its hand. Bass that my PA5 and DA9 dont even come close. Everything had impact, had body, had QUICKNESS and AGILITY. Best bass Ive ever heard from any amp. Lower mids cleared up, now bassy male vocals jump out even more. What a great combo. Mids were a little thin compared to the PA5, but that actually gave the impression that is was more resolute. I dont mind mids like that at all, and I might like it more than the PA5 because its clarity Im after with the 12.4s Top end was extended but not as airy as the PA5, which it was a champ at to begin with. I put the top end of the Crown in the same league as the DA-9, which is not bad. I just wished it had that sparkle like the PA5 but then again, its a pro amp that costs nothing for the given power. I lugged the Crown to the Polk reseller yesterday mornin, I told him I was bringing an amp to test out with the R700. When he saw the amp, he was puzzled and he laughed out loud. He had the R700 connected to the TOTL Yamaha RX A8A. Bloody amp looks gorgeous and beefy as hell. Supposed to be putting out 150w @ 8 ohms and utilizes dual ESS ES9026Pro chips in the DAC section. I listened to the R700 first with the Yam and I was blown away. Since when did AV amps had 2 channel performance like this? I must admit it has been some time since I listened to 2 channel with any AV amp though. But I was flung out of my seat, the R700 never sounded larger than this. After 4 songs, the Yam was replaced with the Crown and D90SE. Looks stupid and ridiculous next to the Yam, like it came out of a damn Kinder Egg. Played the first track..... WHAT.............. THE............ F............... Sounded the same as the Yam, but with more precise and controlled bass!!! I had to switch back to the Yam to hear subtle differences but Ill get to that later. Bass. It had bass that the 12.4 could ever dream off. Where the 12.4 would start to go ffffffffttttttt fffffffttttttt ffffffffffftttttt, the R700 would have complete authority over that frequency. Like a sub built in to it. The dealer was shocked that the Crown had so much gusto playing the R700. He asked how much power and when I replied, he said "No bloody wonder". We laughed. Now I had to switch back and forth to the Yam to notice subtle differences. The soundstage of the yam was slightly wider and deeper, and the yam had more air to it at the top end. The yam also had meatier mids, but believe it or not, center imaging went to the Crown! Maybe the leaner mids helped in that area, and which I also preferred on the 12.4. There was no hiss at all with the gain knobs at 3 o'clock and there was a little hiss at full gain but that went away after music started playing. The dealer even played some of his favourite tracks on the crown to confirm what he heard on my songs. He was just shocked and I loved every bit of it. Lmao! In the end we agreed that the Yam was a little better (A LITTLE) in 2 channel mode but I went away thinking what if used the Crown just for bass and PA5 for the mids and highs? Then I remembered that we can BI-AMP THE 12.4 AND R700. Game over!!!!!!!! Your 6000A? It has no place in a floorstanding setup. You can never go back to double digit wattage after experiencing the Crown.

@@DougMen1 the Crown doesnt measure SOTA for hifi standards though, but lucky its just a power amp and measurements show nothing odd audibly. It will sound like whatever your source, pre/dac sound like. Amazing what it did against the TOTL Yam with 150w (god knows what its putting out at 4 and 2 ohms) of Class AB power. I now understand the meaning of underdriving a speaker, while it still can sound great when underdrove, its a whole new different ball game when proper power is applied.

@@davidcarr2216 Lol, I have the WiiM as 'bitperfect' transport. There's a review (bitperfect output 100℅, but Amir did not recommend because it didn't support Roon 🤡). Also a discussion on ASR about stuttering issues after a firmware update, which I also experienced with my local network/NAS. I'm under 'Glades'. WiiM responded immediately and asked to send feedback. That night I recieved an OTA pre-release firmware which fixed everything. Awesome support! Going to purchase another one for my secondary system. Anyway, good tip for everyone (else) who needs a cheap transport with, imo, excellent bitperfect output. 👌

@@AbsoluteFidelity Thanks Mark, thorough findings 👌 From what I have read about it, it all confirms your experience exactly. If it only was available in my country without months waiting... Can't be beat for the money and gain at 3 o'clock is fine for me. Or buy two for monoblock use, haha. R7 can handle it, so it seems. I def going to try to get one somewhere. I can use the Audiolab as pre and see how that works out. Almost bought the Audiolab monoblocks (second hand) but was outbid. Maybe that's a sign, lol. Thanks for the heads-up, that will save some $$. 👌
