Love the videos mate keep it up.!!!, If I may ask where did you get the headers from? and are you thinking of doing a tune now?
@numbnutsAU4 жыл бұрын
I am assuming your in Australia so if you are on the "Australian 86 + BRZ Enthusiasts" group on facebook you can contact Louie Chen - he will hook you up with the headers. I am doing a Stage 2+ tune in the next few days. My main objective is to get rid of the torque dip - not interested in a loud exhaust. Most of the gains in terms of power and torque in these engines can be gained in new headers and an overpipe, very little gains in replacing the catted front-pipe, and pretty much zero gains from the axle back. you only replace the axle back if you want to make more noise.

@@numbnutsAU Thanks Mate I am on there too - How was the tune ? was it done with a OFT or tactrix
@cradilyz4 жыл бұрын
xmodisfy they flash the same tunes

@@xmodisfy sorry - I used an OFT. I don't own a laptop to use with a Tactrix and didn't want to buy one. the tune is good - got it from www.wayneroms.com/

Sounds killer! Im looking at doing somthing similar to my brz in the near future. Would you say this gives it a nice sound without it being obnoxious starting in the early morning?
@numbnutsAU3 жыл бұрын
I don't mention it in the video but once you have a tune done it gets rid of the awful cold start sound with the new headers that you can hear in my video. the car is programmed to dump a lot of fuel into the engine to heat up the first catalytic converter so if you get a catless UEL header a tune will remove the need to dump all that extra fuel in and it is way quieter than what you hear in the video. you won't upset the neighbours! it is just a bit deeper than stock. good place to start as you can always change the rest out later if you want to go louder.

Great Video! I'm planning on getting the same headers, just wondering if it is necessary to get some sort of heat shielding on it before installing?
@numbnutsAU3 жыл бұрын
I think if you were tracking the car on a regular basis or were running a supercharger it would be worth considering getting either the headers coated or wrapped. I have seen heat shielding pads that you can apply to the sump - they are flexible pads that just stick on somehow.

Thanks for the video! Thinking of going the same route. How does it sound when you go up the rev range?
@numbnutsAU3 жыл бұрын
it sounds meatier than stock - an improvement that I like a lot. It's not loud enough to attract the attention of the police. it's a good improvement in sound. replacing the headers is a good place to start as you get the performance improvements and then you can change the other parts of the exhaust later if you want to go louder. anything you replace after the front pipe will give zero gains in performance - only make it louder. even replacing the stock front pipe will give very minimal performance gains. all the power and torque gains come from replacing the stock headers and overpipe.

Did you ever get rid of that obnoxious cold start rattle? Mine does the same thing on a cold start and it's just as bad when the engine is under load
@numbnutsAU2 жыл бұрын
Yep, resolved with a Stage 2+ tune.

Thanks for the upload! Does the diameter choke down at all? When it transitions from the PSR overpipe to the factory front pipe?
@numbnutsAU3 жыл бұрын
no it doesn't - everything just bolts straight up with no reduction in pipe diameter from the overpipe to the stock exhaust. very simple install!

What does the cold start up sound like now u have a tune? What is a stage 2 tune by the way
@numbnutsAU3 жыл бұрын
now that I have a tune the cold start up sounds just like a stock engine - nice and quiet with that rasp. a stage 1 tune is an aftermarket tune added to an standard engine without any modifications - smooths everything out with a better idle and bit better throttle response. a stage 2 tune refers to a tune for a modified engine i.e. UEL headers and overpipe.

Bro, that header is more expensive than a Tomei UEL header. Why didn't you just get the Tomei?
@numbnutsAU3 жыл бұрын
The PSR is made in the same factory as the Tomei. The Tomei UEL is around $1,150, I paid $950 for the PSR. The PSR comes with an overpipe included, the Tomei doesn't - the overpipe from Tomei is $450. So what I got for $950 would have cost $1,600 from Tomei for exactly the same thing.
