Fun video, love seeing yamaha synthesis on display...so many roland products flood the market but its cool that yamaha kinda lays back and focuses on a smaller range

I personally wouldn't say it's from wanting to focus on a smaller range more of Yamaha is heavily involved in a lot of markets outside of synths where as Roland and Korg are both more or less primarily synth makers as their main company focus. So it leads to Yamaha being less focused on the synth market compared to like let's say the disturbingly high amount of piano makers/brands Yamaha owns or their high market share in stuff like orchestral and woodwinds stuff.

@@justjoeblow420 yeah, they're basically The default company to go for for the best value for money for most acoustic and electric instruments, not to mention they do pretty good speakers and stuff too... I was looking at Selmer and Eastman for saxophones too, but ended up with Yamaha. I was looking at Fenders and Eastmans for acoustic guitars, but ended up with Yamaha.... Their ergonomic design is top notch.

There are 128 max elements not 8. Some presets show many more than 8 elements as you can see when observing them.

The SY 77/99 FM is still the boss of FM because you can not only choose 16 different FM waveforms to choose from, but you also get two inputs on every operator… one can be used to bring in AWM waveforms to modulate any operator And then use the other input (any input) to choose where you want the feedback loop!… cop that! This (to this day) is why it’s called “Advanced Frequency Modulation” AFM. I don’t know why Yamaha dropped this technology. Serious programmers only. 😉
