The entire identical product series from 2023 and 2024 and also their variants with battery are affected by a faulty circuit design on the XLR-Lineout: JB Systems PPC-081 McGrey E-208LA Fun Generation ColumnMix Proel SESSION1 All columns were tested both with an XLR cable and with an XLR to jack adapter and also via DI box with different attenuations. Other pin assignments on the XLR were also tested alternatively, in case it is just an incorrect pin assignment on the XLR lineout. The result was always the same: much too much noise plus whining even with the controls on the hall mixer slightly turned up and also on other mixers and other line-in receivers. In the meantime, the Fun Generation ColumnMix from Thoman has also arrived, which is identical to the JB Systems PPC-081 and the McGrey E-208LA from Kirstein. As expected, the lineout is also noisy here. So I have now tested a total of 4 identical columns from this series, both from 2023 and 2024. And they all have the same error. The noise and whining is identical and equally strong on all columns. The whining may be slightly different in frequency from column to column. When I switch the column off, the noise and whining also subsides after 2-3 seconds, i.e. as soon as there is no more voltage in the column. However, very few customers will notice it because they may not have used the XLR lineout before. Incidentally, the XLR lineout signals from other columns, such as the LD Systems columns, are flawless.

I used the SubZero L410X at a small gig. I didn’t get any sound out of the columns and got base only sound. I’m not very experienced and didn’t realise that not all the columns are Speakers!! I have a feeling as I only used one column (thinking as it was a small area I could cut down on sound) I think I put on a Spacer instead of a column speaker? Can you do demo’s for beginners please as I sent it back for repair thinking that it was broken!!

The small speakers cannot take distortion. Absolutely terrible
