🏆Thanks to skotty1962 for asking about the actual weight difference! GREAT question. Delkevic site has theirs at 3.572 lbs. I just weighed the OEM...11 lbs even!

Thanks for making this. Wanna change the exhaust always thought it didn't really fit with the rest of the bike. Brother you have a good voice for radio or podcast.

Just got myself a used 2022 himalayan for a heck of a deal. First motorcycle but have to wait until March for the MSF course haha. Thanks for sharing your experiences and possible upgrades. Will be living through other KZbinrs until I get that license. - Shane

That's awesome, Shane! There are deals out there and I really think this is a great first bike. Love to hear more when you are up and running. In the meantime, Its tinker time in winter. Thanks for watching!

The emissions requirements for new vehicles limit the performance. The manufacturers also try to meet a lower retail price. Combined, upgrading the exhaust is usually the biggest performance and appearance upgrade - after better tires! Nice to see that the Delkevic doesn't necessitate an ECU upgrade.

I love delkevic exhaust. Got the titanium 13" on my 18 cbr1000rr and the 14" stainless steel oval on my 18 crf250l with spark arrestor. Both sound great and very durable. My son has 18" trivoval on 18 250 ralley.

Hello again, Ron! Just watched this install video all the way through for the first time. Lots of great tips and insights, IMO, that I missed the first couple of times I skimmed through. I, too, own a '22 Himi, Pine Green, and love the bike except for the exhaust! "Sewing machine" indeed! I also own a 1200 Sportster with an aftermarket exhaust that plays a sweet note that I suspect is a #1 all-time hit in Valhalla! I also suspect that RE will include a better stock system on the RE 450, if and when it arrives, as most of their other bikes have nicely configured and finished pipes. After much research, I am going with the same 14 inch "Stubby" you purchased, with the spark arrestor as well, only in the stainless finish; although, the carbon fiber looks amazing. You mentioned painting your stock header pipe, and I have mentioned to you that there are numerous choices, including several off the shelf that are rated for 2000 degrees Fahrenheit. Keeping the stock header helps with emissions compliance, which may become more of an issue going forward. It also maintains the two header pipe mini shields that prevent "boot melt;" a problem some have reported with the Delkevic header as it does not have mount points for the shields. Mini aftermarket shields can be had, but customizing fit is sometimes time-consuming. For me, the loss of the cat is the bigger issue. Please be aware that some Himi/Delkevic owners have reported questions by forestry officers regarding the spark arrestor on the Delkevic, so having a bookmark on the spark arrestor option at info/sales at Delkevic might get you on your way faster should you ever be stopped. Thanks again for your great videos! IMO, you are a natural-born instructor!

Thanks Michael! Lot of good information there. Glad you are making the move and its a good tip for the forest service. Looking forward to getting up into the bigger trails as the snow melts. Thanks!

That tiny little protective cover by the join is rather critical. I burnt my right heel accidentally resting my foot against the pipe. Header wrap makes a big difference to performance as well.
@swcoloradoadventures
@swcoloradoadventures Жыл бұрын
That’s a definite possibility. Did you have the cover on? I realized what it was when I edited the video. The brain doesn’t always keep up with what I’m doin unfortunately. Thanks!

Too much preasure on just the header? The Delkevic header has a support bracket at the rear of it. I was impressed with the whole system offered.
@swcoloradoadventures
@swcoloradoadventures 11 ай бұрын
Sure don’t think so. Weighing almost 1/3 of OEM and with the bracket, I am confident that’s not a concern. If there was a secret, it would be to make sure everything is lined up naturally from the header to the bracket so there’s no awkward twisting of the system. Thanks!

hello bro, good video, could you tell whats the diameters of the himalayan pipe, and the adaptor?
@swcoloradoadventures
@swcoloradoadventures Жыл бұрын
Hey there! The gasket measurement is 42 mm outer diameter X 36 mm inner (1 mm more than pipe) X 30 mm long. Hope that helps. Sure it depends on the diameter of the exhaust.

Sir: Thank you very much for this very informative and interesting video. The Delkevic exhaust sounds fantastic! I've heard them now on several Himalayans. The 9-in sounds great as does your 14. In fact, they sound very similar and far far better than stock! I was glad to see that you used the sealant provided. I saw one instance where the installer failed to use it, and there was exhaust leak. I think the bike will look great with the header painted black. I have considered doing it with a ceramic coat process. How are you planning on doing yours? Thank you again for passing on your knowledge re: the Himalayan! Much appreciated!
@swcoloradoadventures
@swcoloradoadventures Жыл бұрын
Hello Michael! You are absolutely welcome. More than anything I am glad it helped. I agree with you. WAY better than stock. I hope to take it out tomorrow or Sunday assuming its not still below freezing. I will post that as soon as I can for the road test. My thought is probably stove paint to handle the heat. I live very remotely and do not know of a company that can do the ceramic coating close by. If I did, that would be my first choice for durability. Thanks for the comments!

@@swcoloradoadventures I have used the flat black DIY high heat paint from Rustoleum on a steel fire pit screen with good results. Just checked online now, and there appear to be some newer finishes and colors versus the old flat black that was reviewed as not being nearly as heat or liquid resistant. Did you have a brand in mind? Certainly couldn't hurt to try a finish! If it doesn't work out, reprep and try something else. I wish RE had finished the exhaust in black like they do on many of their other bikes. That might add a bit to the cost, but the header pipe and exhaust are the Achilles' Heel of the appearance of this otherwise striking bike, in my opinion. I have seen the Delkevic stainless header pipe, and it's a beauty! I think yours will look even better in black and more in character with the bike as well! Please, if you are able, let us know how it turns out. Thanks again!

Michael, I cannot remember which brand I bought exactly. The thing about KZbin is that the whole process will likely end up as a video. I will definitely make sure everyone has the opportunity to see it. Thanks for the support and input!

Is there any reason this wouldn't fit on a 2023? It's just that the website hasn't been updated for that info, and it looks like the exhaust pipe could be very marginally different? Thanks, cheers from Salida!
@swcoloradoadventures
@swcoloradoadventures Жыл бұрын
Hey Jacob in Salida! My favorite area in Colorado is up there. More precisely BV and around. Hope the snow melts at some point up there. Anyway. Yes. Even the 2022 wasn’t listed at some point when I got mine. I think that you may have a different o2 sensory position, but for the exhaust, I think that’s it. I emailed support to verify and the guy from Littleton emailed me back pretty quickly. A day. Good luck and thanks for watching!

Make sure the axle nut will miss the exhaust as it cycles up and down. My stock exhaust had dents in it.
@swcoloradoadventures
@swcoloradoadventures Жыл бұрын
Hey Adam! That’s definitely a good point. I’ve got over a 1/4” and was not able to compress the back enough to get it close enough to hit, but I’m not coming off a drop either. There was enough play in the exhaust when mounting to get it out of the with way if it was ever too close. And depending on how it was torqued down, it could have been closer for sure. If ever dropped on that side that would be a key point to check to ensure the position is correct. Great observation. Thanks for that!

NICE VIDEO!! I MENTIONED BEFORE THAT I REPLACED MY ANCHOR WITH A KEMIMOTO SLIP ON . AMAZON- 38 SMAKKERS- FREE SHIP. IT IS INSTALLED... I DID NOT ADD THAT RUBBER MOLDING FOR THE EXHAUST - JERRY-RIGGED IT SO IT IS SNUG. I WAS CONCERNED THAT IT MIGHT MELT!!! ALSO, IF YA LIKE, TAKE OFF THAT EXHAUST SHIELD AND PAINT IT FLAT BLACK- LOOKS GOOD!! JOHN IN NORWOOD, CO.
