Sound of 358ci Nascar powered Mustang

Have a listen to the sweet sound of a 358ci Nascar Cup engine powered 2008 S197 Mustang, built by The Mustang Shop in Auburn WA to compete in NASA American Iron Extreme Class.

@CHUUMPASS , I agree with you there. That nasty, throaty V8 sound is like a symphony orchestra to the ears. The only other sound that compares, yet in a totally different way, is the super high revving, small displacement, V10 and V12 engines. They scream like a banshee. The American V8's growl and snarl like a demon. My buddy's 2000 Cobra Mustang sounds like the engine is grinding up the road and spitting it out the back as dust.

Straight 8 engines don’t have the deep rumble of V8s but they do sounds like those old fighter planes, which is cool as shit in of itself.

Ford nascar uses Chevy specs 4.185 bore 3.250 stroke which is the same as Chevy 400 bored 0.60 over using the 327 crank making it a 358..Ford did not make either of these motors but somehow they use the specs.. look it up 😁
