Studies of the bird song show dialects with neighbours varying in their songs. The calls of many other species may be imitated as part of their song. This may indicate that birds disperse and are not philopatric.Females may sing briefly in the presence of a male. Apart from their song, they use a range of calls including territorial calls, emergence and roosting calls, threat calls, submissive calls, begging calls and distress calls. The typical mobbing calls is a harsh hissing krshhh.

Bird voices is a series where we are planning to capture sounds / calls of Indian birds. While we are doing the "Indian bird sounds series" separately , we are doing this to give more extensive coverage of the bird's call. This is the first time I'm seeing an oriental magpie-robin with a metallic blue throat like a sunbird! I've been lucky to have observed these birds over the last few years as a pair annually nests in my house.

The color is because of the iridescence of the feathers. Bird watchers are really lucky to see these beautiful birds closely and especially if they are our neighbors we can hear their singing everyday 😍😍

I hear this bird everyday in the evening from the top of a tree. Hardly seen this bird before.What a joyous experience to hear them.They are the true blessings of nature.Why can't we nourish them in nature instead of getting them illegally through poachers? I've similar looking bird in my vicinity but I'm confused whether it's Robin or wagtail , how to solve this confusion?

Robin has a completely black head whereas wag tail has a white eyebrow. Based on movement you can say the wagtail by its walking method of continuous wagging tail. Also Robins hop around while wagtails walk.

They are omnivorous but prefer insects. If not injured leave it in open, it will start feeding on it's own

Dead animals usually has maggots , beetles and other insects. Magpie robins being insect eaters will definitely inspect any dead animals.
