Allow me to comment on how kind and gracious you are despite the few complaints people have voiced. I was highly impressed by this as well as the entire video, which was thorough and concise, and with such a pleasant and soothing voice. Thank you for time well spent.

Thanks for your kind words Lisa - I'm always very happy to hear a video is appreciated. It's good to know my voice is soothing too - I guess it should be if I talk about sleep stuff all the time:-) As for the complaints, I don't mind those as long as they are constructive and not purely insulting. I try to be positive and learn from criticism; it's really useful to know what people didn't like about the way I did a video, independent of what they think about the product. I also think it's only fair to be able to take criticism myself if I dedicate my life to criticising things! But thanks for the support - it always makes me smile.

Thank you for taking the time to review this product. I have been looking for relief from airplane and car traffic noise pollution and wanted a deeper bass sound but couldn’t find it in the lower end models. I love the way brown noise sounds thru my Bose Mini Speaker, but don’t like haven’t my phone or ipad tied up for that use via bluetooth. This is the closest thing I have found yet that has that high quality deep bass sound. Thanks again!

You're welcome, and I'm glad you liked the review. That's one of the main reasons to use a machine instead of a phone, as you can get white noise just fine through a phone and speaker. Personally I like to turn my phone off at night, so that's a reason I like to use a machine too.

Thanks for the review. About 20% of the many comments on Amazon complain that although this machine is wonderful in concept, it breaks down internally within months, leaving just harsh static or nothing at all. Is that an unavoidable big risk given the current technology, and, if so, why should people take that risk?
@nosleeplessnights14 жыл бұрын
Hi Seth, unfortunately there are many complaints about many different white noise machines on Amazon - and many other tech products as well. How much you choose the believe them is a personal matter, of course. Also, remember that it's 20% (if correct) of the people who left reviews. Not 20% of everyone who bought the product. But yes, in an ideal world I agree that you should feel that you can buy a product without the risk of it breaking within months. That would annoy me too as a consumer, regardless of whether I'm doing a review or not. Maybe I've been one of the lucky ones because I've had two of these to review over the last couple of years, and neither of them broke. But then again, I don't use them every day for weeks on end because I have others in my home that I like to test and use. Perhaps in the future, when I see complaints like this, I'll leave it running for longer to see what happens - true dedication to the cause. The alternative is to buy it from the manufacturer if you're in the US. Then you can contact them for support if it does go wrong.

It seems like this model came with an SD card a few years ago that would go out after some use. They are very responsive in getting those people free replacements.
@benjaminbrown52453 жыл бұрын
A lot of people too don’t take care of their boughten items and like to say it breaks so I wouldn’t believe any of that. I just purchased it yesterday an I. Love it. People always say in reviews that after a couple of weeks their item breaks but maybe it is because they took really bad care of what they bought. I bought an electric shower brush for showering and it till works great after how many months someone on the review said that it breaks after 10 uses. People like to complain about things so the customer is not always right. People complain because they find something to complain about but you are going to bee just fine. If the machine is not beeing soaked in water or dropped super super hard if it just is sitting on the night stand like it is intended nothing is going to happen. Don’t believe the reviews.

Is the adaptive feature quick enough to respond? Example neighbour staring a car with a loud exhaust in neighbouring driveway?
@nosleeplessnights1 Жыл бұрын
It typically takes a couple of seconds to adapt. So depending on how long the exhaust sound goes on for, it should help for some of it. But the initial abrupt noise will cut through the current volume setting I imagine, especially if it's really loud. So basically, it's a useful feature, but has limitations.

You're very welcome! I hope it helps, but reducing noise from upstairs neighbours is notoriously difficult. There are plenty of good articles on websites that deal with soundproofing - unfortunately the best solutions tend to involve very extensive home improvement projects to change the ceiling. Or in a pinch, you could try hanging some material up there to reduce the sound a little bit.

@nosleeplessnights14 жыл бұрын
You're welcome and thanks for the compliment. Sorry to hear you're having noise issues too. One of the good points about this device is that it has a headphone jack, which would help as you'd have the sound coming through headphones. But personally, I wouldn't listen to white noise through headphones for many hours a day every day. Still, from time to time on a lower volume it might help drown out some noise. But assuming you want a device in the room rather than headphones, I think that this model will have as good a chance as any other as the volume is decent and there is lots of sound choice to hopefully find one that blocks your neigbours. The problem, however, is that fundamentally sound is very hard to totally block. I'd definitely be thinking about other ways to block the sound in the meantime, even if it's using whatever material you have lying around to seal some gaps where noise is infiltrating your place. Best of luck with the book:-)

Probably one with a headphone jack so you can listen to it in private. So this one, or the Lectrofan Evo for example. But if you have people talking nearby, they won't block them out without also probably annoying them with loud white noise. As for blocking other people, the white noise needs to be in the room they are in really, not yours.

You're welcome Nick. Most white noise machines look like they were intended for sleep, mainly because of the timers and the association people have with relaxing sounds and sleep. @nosleeplessnights13 жыл бұрын
As far as I am aware, this one has the most sounds at the moment. Some of them are very similar though, so I wouldn't see it as 64 distinct sounds. And in my experience even a machine with 20-30 sounds is more than enough. It's the overall quality that makes the biggest difference for me, not the number of sounds.
