Magic couldn't stay in front of a quick guard to save his life, and prime Steph (2015-2019) was an actual defensive liability. I'd never argue Luka is a good defender, but he's in the same room of player type as Magic, Steph, Jokic, etc. Effort doesn't mean anything of you're still getting fried. Luka just like Harden would for ever have the 'trash defender' tag, no matter if he improves on the 'effort' mainly Chill is referring to. He hasnt been good overall this season (relative to his standards), especially defensively. But we as fans overdo it. Unfortunetly for Giannis he would have to have atleast a top 6 overall record in the nba to sniff that mvp coupled with his current performances: that bad start hasnt done him any favor
