I recorded this sound in an Airbnb bathroom with my binaural microphone rig positioned near the vent. I used Adobe Premiere to compile the audio and video. When I was 5, my dad would wake up at 4 in the morning to get ready, and he would always take twenty minute showers. I used to sleep on my parents’ bed since I would get night terrors, and so that meant I would wake up every time my dad did. I always snuck into the bathroom while he was showering, and I'd lay on the bathroom mat with a towel over my eyes. There was something so satisfying about my half-waken eyes hiding from bright bathroom lighting. I remember getting goosebumps being able to feel the vibrations of the water hitting the floor of the shower, especially every time he wrung out the washcloth. There was also this strange satisfaction of inhaling the steam coming from the hot shower. Not to mention the bathroom fan, which sounds identical to the one in this video. Put all the elements together and you have this perfect formula to head back to sleep after waking up before sunrise. My dad would carry me back to bed, and I'd wake up right next to my mom in the morning.

I've been using the video for years and realised I've never commented. Just want to say this is a fantastic white noise video that I use often if I'm staying away from home and don't have access to a fan. I also went through a bad spell of anxiety last year and popping my headphones in and putting this video at full blast always helped calm my anxiety and forget about all the problems the world is facing at the moment. Whenever a bath was run I'd lay down a towel next to the tub, fold another towel as a pillow, then lay down and cover myself with a third towel, pretend I was in a cave, all safe and sound, press my ear up against the bath, while blocking my other ear off, and feel the sound of the running water reverberate through my body, sometimes peak through the small patch of light near my feet, like the entrance to a cave far away, sometimes rest my arm out on the cold tiles on the floor or the side of the bath, I await the one who has done the same...

Amazing. Thank you! I'm glad you could find something a little similar to what you want. I suppose you could play with the volume to make it sound more distant. I know audio effect filters can give you the 'outside the door' sound to stuff. You could possibly try searching for some software or plugins that change your audio output of your computer. Even some computers have settings in your audio to do effects and stuff. You want to see if there's software or plug-ins that changes your audio output with a low-pass filter. That could be a great way to fix it so you can basically make any video sound like it's coming from inside a room. As for making it sound like someone is there, you could overlay the sound of someone playing with water or something. Like a separate video playing on top of water splashing and playing with water. I can always do another recording, but it might take a while so those are some things that you can look into if you like! :)

I love reading all the details from others bathroom / bathtub journeys. It’s particularly interesting that so many of us liked being wrapped in a towel. It’s almost like being swaddled as a baby. Or sometimes you put a robe over your body. I usually curled up in a fetal position. Did you? Many times I sleep this way as well. Feels so safe and warm. I felt so good snuggled up next to the tub listening only to the sound of water coming out and hitting the tub. There was a special echoing sound this way. It may even be similar sound to those who listened on the other side of a wall when a family member took a bath. Anyway, It was as if I was in my own world feeling safe and at peace with everything. Every so often, water drops would hit my skin and give me goosebumps and tingles. I was never so happy. And, wondering if anyone ever reached out their hand to touch the cool tile floor to experience that sensation. Not sure why I did that unless it was just to add another layer of feeling something to the experience. Would be curious to know what you think. Also, I liked to reach in the tub sometimes and feel the warm water against my skin. I did that because I love the feel of water almost as much as the sound. Then sometimes I would get in the tub at the end and feel the warm water envelop my body, giving me more goosebumps. Most of all I didn’t want the sound to end. I’m so grateful we gave ASMR video recordings now so we can go to sleep experiencing the watery wonders of our childhood. All of your stories bring me much happiness and tingles. Yeah that's cool! I don't currently have that sound but I do have a shower and I do have pipes!!! :D So it's a possibility! I can say the next upload will be a pedestal fan and I'd love to get some more water sounds so there you go. I have some good ideas up my sleeve now!
