Now THIS is the kind of tutorial I was looking for! Too many tutorials are made for those who are already familiar with digital soundboards and for old school techs, like myself, it was all gibberish. When you explain what these features do, it makes it MUCH easier to learn, especially when you're dealing with analytical minds where if something is missing, nothing makes sense. THANK YOU!!!

Thank you! I just joined a church that has purchased this board, a few months ago, and no one knows how to use it. I'm like Paul - used to an analog board. Today, I was able to help with the EQ, to help stop feedback and get things to sound a bit better because all of the EQs were flat-lined, at zero. The retailer made a sale and gave no assistance in calibrating the system - just installed it. I think it was a set up, because any visits, after a certain time has passed, usually means a "paid service call!" Finding your videos will help me appear to look smarter than I am about this board! You guys are also - Hilarious!
@GLBProductions6 жыл бұрын
That sounds like a bad situation - however remember that the onus is on the customer to ensure that they are getting what they need in terms of training, system tuning etc. It will cost more for sure but it needs to be part of every good installation job.
@TkMeBk6 жыл бұрын
The Pastor made the purchase and placed a member in charge, technically. Both are less than novice to realize that proper training and tuning should have taken place.

Thanks for posting this video. I had a setup gig for a school musical last week. They wanted me to come in an program the new Soundcraft SI Performer which I had never used before. I watched the first 15 minutes of this video and that paired with my knowledge of other digital mixers Midas, Avid, Yamaha etc I managed to program the 47 cues for the show with no problem. Since I am a Midas Pro 2 guy it took me a couple of minutes to get the different levels for storing, but once over that bridge nothing to it thanks to your video. Thank You again for making it. Yes I am an old analog guy who grew up in the 70's with Yamaha, Allen & Heath and Soundcraft. How times of changed.

This exactly the same we are using in the church. I really find the gain sensitivity unusual. Its not that sensitive from minimum up until you get to 12o clock. Then the next click up its a really big of db. The gain can really be fully open like 3 o clock sometimes and can get a decent signal.
@GLBProductions Жыл бұрын
Yes this is where it is really useful to have an actual numerical readout of the gain in dB so that you can match settings from one channel to the next.

Thanks a bunch for your very educational video on the Compact. My school has just received the newer Impact and for someone who has only run analog your video has been extremely helpful. I hope you can help with what I'm sure is a very simple question. I'm running a theatrical production using backing tracks and want to control the volume going to the monitors...can't figure how to isolate this one thing. The Impact seems very close to your Compact but has even less dials and buttons...thanks!
@GLBProductions9 жыл бұрын
+Richard Mynderup Hello Richard, thanks for getting in touch. Monitors should be controlled the same way as on the mixer in the video: press the appropriate bus button and then use the channel faders and on/off buttons to choose which channels are routed to that monitor. Have you tried this?

I have one wireless mic and every Sunday I have different solo singer using it. they have different gain and EQ setup. sometimes we have to change solo unexpected. we don't have lot of time before mass. I'm using Soundcraft MFi and I really like it. I'm looking for a mixer can remember setting for each singer so any time one singer sing I just chose setting for that singer. can this Mixer can do that? Thanks
@GLBProductions8 жыл бұрын
+Trực Chính You cannot recall settings for just one channel - you would need to create one scene or preset for each singer and recall that scene when the singer goes up. This would also affect all the other channels on the mixer unless you made them recall safe.

@robinslive14298 жыл бұрын
Hi sir....thanks for the video..I hv a doubt!!...in the gate section there is a sc LPF and sc hpf ..what is that??and how it's work!!!
@GLBProductions8 жыл бұрын
+Robins Live That stands for sidechain Low and High pass filters - it's a way to adjust the frequency response of the gate so that it is only sensitive to certain frequencies. For example if you are gating a high hat you can use these filters to tune the gate such that it ignores the lower frequency sounds from the snare drum and only reacts to the higher frequencies from the high hat.

I can only assume that Front of House (FOH) has a different meaning in your country than it does in the professional audio world of the US?
@GLBProductions9 жыл бұрын
+Nunya It depends on who you speak to - for actors it refers to the area where the audience sits, for sound engineers to mix front of house is as distinct from mixing monitors. Paul however started doing sound in the UK in the 1980s so his understanding of these terms is different again ;)
