Thanks Simeon. I listen to this over and over, it's a great song and amazes me that you can just improvise something 20x better than anything I've ever written. IK Multimedia and Sweetwater owe you a thanks. I was leaning towards Garritan Personal Orchestra, but this video pushed me the other way and I bought this product, and am totally thrilled. Must underrate lib ever. The snares from version one alone are worth the price. Some instruments like the Oboe solo sounds a bit strange, but put in an orchestra they suddenly sound beautiful and human. In my experience you have to use it multitimbral because unlike Kontakt and Sine, this each instance of this player really adds up resources.

People out there often say.There are some libraries as this one,that dont sound good,powerfull,natural and HQ.Miroslav has many dislikes as a library.But You make it sound good somehow i dont know how
@PraiseTracks2 жыл бұрын
Yes, it does have many miles and years in it and can be considered very dated BUT a Minimoog built decades ago, while it might be dated by age, it still has a sound that is a part of its existence. When Miroslav created these original samples, he was able to capture something with very limited resources. What you have to do is realize what are the instruments strong points and sweet spots and try and work inside of that. The frustration comes when you are trying to do something with a library that it honestly cannot do. Find what it can do successfully and enjoy making music inside that world. Thanks so much for watching. I appreciate the kind support. Joyfully!🎹

Vaughan Kennedy , so glad you enjoyed it. Yes, I loved the Edirol products as well. Since Cubase is cross platform (Mac/ Windows) you would not necessarily have to learn everything from scratch. Md Ahmad Thank you so much for your kind words. I will see about posting the link to the midi file for you and others to enjoy. It is so funny listening back to this tonight as it triggered a musical memory of David Foster's arrangement of the St. Elmo's Fire love theme. My playing is primarily by ear so the library of soundtracks and other music I have been exposed to over the past 51 years gets stored in a strange musical database and so when you start to improvise something it might actually be like pulling memory fragments of a tune or idea from long ago. Very amazing and wonderful how we process the music and sounds around us.

Can we have control on the dynamics with modwheel?
@PraiseTracks4 жыл бұрын
I just looked at this and it seems that the patches out of the box do not have anything assigned to the Mod Wheel. However, I was able to assign the mod wheel to expression and that seemed to be an easy workaround. You can assign MIDI controls to the MACROS to have control over many of the dynamic and tone controls. Philharmonik has been around for quite some time and so many of the techniques used today were not available in the usual way when this library was produced. The samples still have a very beautiful quality about them, you just might have to work with them a little more in certain situations. Thanks so much for watching.
@ChakrasMusicLab4 жыл бұрын
@@PraiseTracks Thanks mate. I have been using MP1 long time back. So it seems same thing but in 64bit and new samples. Sad there is no trial version for this. I want to know how is the harps while trying to create gliss. And the legato. Will you be able to show that?
@PraiseTracks4 жыл бұрын
@@ChakrasMusicLab, I can tell you the legato seems very confusing as the legato samples are presented as separate presets so it looks like you have to do some extra work with those. There does not seem to be any new Harps for MP2, so you are left with the harps you had in the original MP1. It seems the glissandos are all in the key of C and you have to use the STRETCH feature to place them in other keys. Many times what I tend to do is transpose the C scale to whatever note I am wanting and are able to do some nice major scale glisses ;^) Hope that helps.
@ChakrasMusicLab4 жыл бұрын
@@PraiseTracks Thanks for your help in confirming that. Much appreciate. What is the main reason MP2 is worth to buy? I mean for you personally which is much satisfying with MP2 in comparison with other Kontakt libraries?

I think that it has a distinctive sound. Being an older library there are limitations but is a good way for possible first time users to get started. The current IK Multimedia Group Buy is crazy that you can get several instruments free for the price of one. That being the case it would be a great addition to SampleTank 4 to use the Philharmonik sounds in the ST4 engine. The SampleTank platform has a lot to catch up on as far as scripting and such but it has a lot of interesting possibilities.

@PraiseTracks3 жыл бұрын
Well this video was one of my first produced a long time ago. So much has changed in the area of virtual orchestra libraries. Philharmonik is a very classic library but does have a lot of miles on it. With Philharmonik 2 you do have some additional new content but what it lacks is the dynamic response and articulation control that more modern orchestral libraries have introduced along the way. They do offer Philharminic CE which is a lighter version that might give you an idea of how things sound. I would definitely take a look at Spitfire's BBCSO Discover which is $49 or Free if you fill out a survey, also Audio Imperia has Nucleus which has some very nice sounds as well. Thanks so much for watching. All the best.

Very demostrative video made at once.Congratulations! the only thing was missing was the panning . I mean for great demanding scores the Orchestration sounds a little bit sintetized . like a great pipe organ....
@PraiseTracks8 жыл бұрын
+marcelouz1 Regarding panning one of the interesting things about the original library is that all of the instruments were recorded "In Place", that is to say the recordings reflect the panning placement as they would be heard on the orchestra stage. This helps when combining the various sounds to maintain a realistic soundstage as the audio reflects their proper position when recording the traditional orchestra. That is not saying you cannot change the panning, I just forgot as I am so used to leaving the pan position as it was. I tend to agree on your comments on the brass. Love the French horns but the trumpets just need a little more attack to them.

@PraiseTracks4 жыл бұрын
I will check it and let you know what I find. Thanks for watching.
@PraiseTracks4 жыл бұрын
OK, just checked this. It seems to me what is happening is that they are using the same sample for the F#4 and G4 as I can hear a slight difference when I go up there. Nothing really jumps out but there does seem to be a tonal difference. Remember these are what I would call “bonus” sounds so they do have utility when mixed in with some of the other sounds but not as deeply sampled as a larger piano library would be. Also with the original Miroslav library these were at the start of orchestral sampling and had to be loaded through floppy disks on some of the earlier Akai hardware samplers. I am so amazed at how far we have come. I hope that is helpful and please let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks again for watching and supporting the channel.

Hey, I really enjoyed this video. Thank you so much. I am thinking to buy these two softwares, but few things I dont understand. 1. The Sonar records the midi and when you play back the Sonar uses the samples of MIroslav Philharmonik 2 like a plugin? So in that case I dont have to go for the most expensive Sonar, I think. 2 Can I prepare a midi file and import to the sonar and after choose an instrument from Miroslav, I think I can just I wish to know from an expert before I spend couple of hundreds euros. If you have time just say yes or no that can halp a lot for me:) Thank you.

Well, probably not in the sense recent sample libraries handle it. Hi - please can I ask a question. As you were adding instruments how did "they" pick which note(s) of the initial piano track to follow ? It was just amazing to hear the build from just 1 piano. Regards, Peter
@PraiseTracks8 жыл бұрын
+Peter Moss well it was totally just improvised. I played the parts as you hear them right off the cuff. With me when I start an idea I can sort of actually hear sort of a finished version in my head. The hard part is taking what I hear and actually playing it into the DAW. That is one reason sounds are so important as the audible references actually trigger thought processes that guide me to play a certain way. The sound itself invokes emotion and almost has a musical life of its own. It's an amazing idea.

+Simeon Amburgey - silly me - I was under the impression the added instrument tracks (note content) were automatically being triggered by what you had initially played on the piano. I now understand you manually were adding them. Sorry.

Great video! I have a question: what are the biggest differences or improvements between Philharmonik 1 and 2?
@PraiseTracks8 жыл бұрын
Seems like they did a lot of new samples in regards to the string sections mainly. You also get the original Philharmonik 1 sounds. They also have done more in the area of effects by adding a convolution reverb room effect which is nice.

so it is not really needed to switch to philharmonic 2? I have phil 1 and I still love the sounds:-)
@PraiseTracks8 жыл бұрын
Not necessarily. They did do fresh recordings of the instruments and focused on the strings so it is not like they only did strings. The original Philharmonik sounds were really groundbreaking when they first came out originally as Akai samples and the library cost several thousand dollars. It was like the Vienna library of its day. Another nice thing is since it is based on the SampleTank 3 engine you can get the SampleTank FREE version and load your Philharmonik1 sounds into it to take advantage of some of the new effects and performance features.

Can you show more about the Classical Harpsichord? I am currently using the Mietke Harpsichord together with Hauptwerk and it's the best virtual Harpsichord I have ever played (it sounds perfect, it's just that when you play a "triller" like sound or the same note repeatedly that you can start to hear that it is a sample library). So I wonder what your "Classical Harpsichord" sounds like. I have tried literally 100s of Harpsichord libraries and instruments during the last 20 years and 95% of them SUCK COMPLETELY, some of the sound atleast decent. So, I am very picky. :-)

So I'm having a problem with my cello multi plugin. If I try to change the articulation to just pizz, detache or any other type, there is always another playing at the same time. I've been playing with it for ages now and can't work out what it is. Only 1 track on Logic Pro X and using 1 channel for the multi cello in MP2. Any ideas what it could be?
@PraiseTracks7 жыл бұрын
Not sure, I just had to reinstall everything on my Windows 10 machine. I loaded the Cello Multi with the key switches. it appears to be working correctly. The only thing I can think that might be causing this is some sort of MIDI echo in the input channel or the messages are coming through some other channel echoing the incoming MIDI data. My main DAW is SONAR Platinum so I am not sure how Logic might handle this.
@choppersdog13007 жыл бұрын
Simeon Amburgey I'll have to look at that. When you uninstalled then reinstalled did it affect any pieces of music you had used MP2 with? Did you have to re configure parts with compression reverb etc?

It might but most of the time the plugin settings are saved with the project file. Gives me a good idea to pull up my original SONAR project and see if it loads. I will let you know

How do the strings sound when playing legato? Can you slide between notes as a player would?
@PraiseTracks7 жыл бұрын
There is some form of legato handling through key switching the articulations. They have what is called "Fast Legato" which the recordings were made to accommodate the fast transitions. Here is a short video from IK that sort of breaks down their approach to how they handle articulations. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aZvPYZ2Yhsl8isk
@choppersdog13007 жыл бұрын
Simeon Amburgey thank you. I've actually bought it now. I've noticed the strings don't hold a sustained note for too long though, is there something I'm missing?
@PraiseTracks7 жыл бұрын
The very first Miroslav sample library (which was for Akai samplers) was to not have looped performances. Miroslav wanted to present the realism of how long the string player actually held the note. There are some of the presets however that are looped that will give you a longer sustain time just in case. Hope you enjoy; lots of beautiful sounds in there.
@choppersdog13007 жыл бұрын
Simeon Amburgey I'll have to see how it sound if you overlap the notes to sustain them longer. I have pieces where a cello may play the same note for 10+ bars.

You can but like with any sample based instrument the drive and transfer speeds need to be fast. I think for the most part these sounds are stored in ram but there still might be some sample streaming from disk that needs to happen so the faster the drive the better result you will have.
