@Fakename703 жыл бұрын
@@vonclohk507 I’ve always felt Bleach was their Melvins/Mudhoney album, Nevermind was their Husker Du album, and In Utero was their Pixies album. I was never impressed with them on Sub Pop (with the exception of “Sliver”, which I liked straight away only because of Danny Peters), and thought the rest of the world was out of its fucking mind for fawning over them once they moved to DGC. Still do.

I was there with my band trying to pass out our demos to record execs. This was my first introduction to Soundgarden and I was blown away wish I could I had time to talk to Chris because back then you could just walk up to them after they played and just talk to them. I talked to Mike Patton because Faith No More played there that weekend too. A&M was giving out copies of their tape louder than love, and I played it endlessly and then when bad motor finger came out I was hooked

I don't remember this many ppl. I'd given Axl a tape and said they'd be playing but didn't think he'd show. I remember being up front with Axl moshing all over bumping into very few ppl that were there but in suits. I thought maybe they played a club and the convention??? I don't think I would have missed it if there were 2 as it was Soundgarden the 1st band I saw leaving LA in 87 and moving up to Seattle and worth staying there.
@monicajean374 жыл бұрын
Tommy, I think Soundgarden was the 1st band out of the alternative era to be signed by a major record label , Then Alice in Chains were next. I hate that word GRUNGE! I grew up out there , went to HS in Wenatchee, class of 84' then Moved to ABerdeen Wash when I was 18, then Seattle area when I was 26. I saw a lot of these bands b4 they were famous. IMHO SOUNDGARDEN should've been bigger then they were , I'm talking METALLICA big!

I was there. So happy this was my first exposure to this band and that this video surfaced. This place was mostly empty as I remember, with exception of the front of the stage. Remember, the hair metal scene was in full force as GNR Appetite was at the pinnacle of the end of that era. I knew this band was special and they were the only band at the foundations forum that made a major impact to the music scene in my recollection.

@vegan.atheist.weirdo7 күн бұрын
It's not hoarse; it's _velvety._ 🤣 And I don't know if I'd say it's technique exactly, because I've never heard him without that bluesy texture in his voice, across all the recordings I've heard and watched. It sounds like his speaking voice to me (with the obvious exception of volume and pitch). Contrast that with Layne, who could go back and forth in the same verse from grit to bell-like clarity depending on what he wanted to convey. It's why I don't favor one over the other -- they're so different, and both so incredibly powerful.

For those who were not around for the 90s, especially from 88-94, we have no idea what they missed. In every city in almost all the clubs, there was Rock n Roll/ punk music bands playing. Glam metal was in the way out, and musicians were not wearing spandex and eye liner!! Plug in and play loud original music!!! What a time to be alive. Best decade for ALL music. I know the 60s and 70s had good arena rock but the 90s was much deeper than rock and roll. Alt, country, hip hop,.
