This man was an oracle...April 1994 Chris took some acid then decided to take a walk down the Native American reservation..lo and behold voices spoke to him comforting feelings attracted like he wasn't alone in a dreamy like conciousness yet whenever he looked back only glimpses of this spirit telling him to listen and write so Cornell did and we have this GLORIOUS MESSAGE we should heed "4th of July" was for us a warning of CERN and its capabilities with the Hadron Collider. ..YES he struggled with depression and substance abuse but he LOVED LIFE he did not take his own life..he was sent here to link us together not tear us apart.. For Soundgarden to reunite and be playing and putting out new music was incredible. Chris Cornell still sounded amazing, even years later. but I bet after the shows, and when he wasn't working or spending time with his family, Chris Cornell's thoughts of depression probably got to him. when he was alone, he probably found it difficult to quite the noise in his head. he wasn't happy, despite his outward appearance. his death is very sad.

i always thought Soundgarden was an okay band... But i always rehear albums i dont fully understand, just incase you see it in a new light. And maybe 2months ago, i put on Superunknown album and everything clicked, the band made sense to me. Its an aquired taste that takes more than a few listens to really embrace every second of the music. Even the minimal moments. And thats the beautiful part of this band.
