Matt’s drumming is so incredible, precise, so unique but at once really controlled and those spaces & fills work in almost magical unison with Chris’ insane voice. & His opening of Jesus Christ Pose just defies logic. He’s such a good listener, so intrinsically aware, and at certain points they’re so in sync it almost feels like they’re a singular entity. He provides such a solid and gorgeously reliable underpinning for the whole band. Everyone is so damn good. And Chris of course - off the charts preternatural talent.

Not going to see Soundgarden literally 1/2 a mile from my downtown Indianapolis office on May 10th, 2017 will go down as one of my biggest regrets in life. My wife was 37 weeks pregnant with our son, so I didn't want to ask her to stand for an entire concert, and she could have gone into labor at any moment. How could we have known that Chris would be gone 8 days later? My son was born on May 20th, less that 48 hours after Chris passed. LOVE that SMILE of Satisfaction that must only come when your whole being acknowledges that you are playing with your band: and in that exact moment in time your are not just part of a ROARING Beast of a band band- but you are the FRONTMAN- of a band firing on all cylinders. It's COOL that we get too see that shine through in his SMILE. Tom Morello once said of Chris “Chris was as melodic as The Beatles, as heavy as Sabbath and as haunting as Edgar Allan Poe." That's LOFTY COMPANY and he belongs there for ETERNITY!!!

They were the best rock band of the 90s, and the best of grunge. Alice In Chains was cool because it had Layne Stanlley and today Jerry Cantrell can't hold it together, SoundGarden is one of those bands that with RARELY exceptions ALL the members are top level musicians, just like the Beatles or PinkFloyd, where all the members were talented and multifaceted. The bassist (Ben Shepherd) is a monster, the drummer (Matt Cameron) is a killer, the guitarist (Kim Thayil) is breathtaking in the tuning and complexity of the riffs, and Cornell sings like a God of Olympus, as well as playing very well, it's a band that has everything in terms of music, composition, chords, sonority, it's like a classical music show where the Maestro is rock n roll.

He was the G.O.A.T. His voice sounds like a new element, a form of massive energy, he could still hit notes from 30 years ago, volume, expansion, range and techniques. Cornell was unbeatable as a vocalist, not even Plant or Mercury could have mastered his voice so well. God of music.
