31:14 Michael Beinhorn has stated that Chris blew out 5 microphones during vocal tracking. This is a good candidate for one of the places that happened. Thank you guys for this. For years, this song was somewhat diminished for me by sheer oversaturation -- and it still chafes that so many people only know Soundgarden as "Black Hole Sun" -- but hearing all the little nuances has reawakened me to its wonder. And yes, his isolated vocals did make me cry.

I'm telling you the verses of Black Hole Sun have almost the same melody (slowed way down) as Gus Kahn and Walter Donaldson's Makin' Whoopee from 1928.Try singing these verses from Makin Whoopee instead of Cornell's sometime... @ I would never miss a chance to hear his vocals isolated, be it Spoonman, Outshined, Burden in my Hand, Rhinosaur, Pretty Noose, Fell on Black Days or any other song he takes on, be it with Temple of the Dog, Audioslave, or on his own playing acoustic, I will always check it out. Personally, Burden in my Hand would be an absolutely pleasure to hear with his voice isolated but honestly, pick any song he’s on and you can’t lose.
