I was at this concert last night. I have always wanted to see Soundgarden they were such a big part of my life. So I was so excited to finally see them. It was all I could think about for the last week. I have never been so happy and so sad in such a short amount of time. I woke up at 5:30 this morning and was getting ready for work and saw a picture of Chris on the news and said "oh cool they are doing a story on the concert last night" so I sat down to watch. Then I saw Chris Cornell dead at 52 underneath the picture. I said "that's wrong, I just saw him 6 hours ago." It took a couple of minutes till I realized what happened. So sad. You will be missed Chris. R.I.P. brother.

dhit62 count your lucky stars. For as many times as Soundgarden and Audioslave came through Cleveland, I never got a chance to see Chris live. Someone asked me if I could meet anyone famous, would it be Jerry Cantrell (my favorite musician and songwriter)? I said I love Jerry, but nope. It would be Chris Cornell and I wouldn't ask him a single question about himself, Soundgarden or Audioslave. Every question I would ask him would have to do with "Far Behind" by Candlebox, "Would?" by Alice in Chains, "Say Hello 2 Heaven" by Temple and most importantly, the source material for those three songs. Andy, Chris, the whole world misses you both, brothers.

He knew it was his last. I can feel it deep down. He was tired and worn out. I've never been hit so hard with anyone's death yet until Chris. I loved Scott, layne, and Kurt but Chris's has just shaken me to the core. It's been on my mind everyday since and it's eating me alive inside. I can't get it out of my mind. Never met the guy but I feel like a part of me is gone with him. I can't let it go. I love you Chris. Thank you for so many years of greatness and love with your music. You were a hero to me and so many. May you be and peace now. We all will miss you and you never will be forgotten.

This guy passing really messed me up. I hope at least the dialogue will be more open and accepted in terms of what depression is and just how common it is for that matter. So many people hide their struggle and it's heartbreaking to see someone as gifted as Cornell succumb to it.

There's more to the story than we know. People are reading too much into the performance. It sounds like he's lagging because he's using a delay, plus there's an ugly echo in the room, and the sound quality is horrible since it's recorded with a phone. He was always an intense performer, so people are reading extra darkness into nothing. He's working the crowd, having fun with them, he goes over and touches Kim with affection. There's something we just don't know about what happened, but I don't believe it was an intentional suicide. The medication made him hallucinate or something and he didn't realize he was awake. When the extra medication kicked in, he probably thought he was having a nightmare and wasn't in control when he got back to his room. Add to the fact he was probably jet-lagged since he flew in just for the show after spending a nice day with his family. That bodyguard knows more than he's said.

I can't imagine what was going through his head during this show... did he know that his life was coming to an end? Was it a sudden snap decision made in a haze of overwhelming emotion and a feeling of utter hopelessness? So many questions that I feel will go forever unanswered. So sad. Rest easy, Chris. You were the fucking greatest.

From what I understand he took more Ativan than prescribed because he was "angry"...an anti-anxiety drug. For some, it can cause suicidal thoughts if not taken as directed. It sounds unbelievable, I know. This article might clarify : www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/chris-cornell-when-suicide-doesnt-make-sense_us_591e2496e4b07617ae4cbaac

give me a break.ive read that article and every other article. I know anxiety tablets can cause suicidal thoughts.you dont know what was going on anymore than anyone else. a toxicology report will reveal more. Bear in mind he was also out of it onstage.Im not saying you are wrong....just dont be so naive.

I guess the anti-anxiety pills not only helped him to be the invincible onstage party animal he is in this video, but also reduced his fear of death. He regularly may have had suicidal thoughts, like many people, but this time his fear to actually do it was gone. The pills took his fear of death away. People need a level of fear, to protect themselves. Someone with huge anxiety problems shouldn't be onstage. Those pills are made to cope with daily life, not to such extreme circumstances.

Sure did. I was there and while "Black Hole Sun" stuck out as a real clunker that night, seeing them/this live (from the balcony) was powerful. They did rock. I always admired Chris Cornell as a singer. Always felt he was underrated. I was saddened by his passing. In most of what I've seen of his performances, he was more animated than what is seen in this video. There's something rather subdued about him even though he sounded great. Mvagusta-Yes, he had a somewhat laid back, lackadaisical, relax, dont rush it live style over the last ten years or so. He put everything he had into this song @ 3:05, 4:12,4:22, 4:37 & 5:05. That was not his typical m.o. over the last few, years. Especially when youre on tour and you cannot injure your voice or the tour's over. Is it possible he knew this was his last performance? But in the end, only Chris knows what was going through Chris' head and we should all be respectful of that and enjoy the work he did.
@cynthiatrabold54327 жыл бұрын
agree, Chris totally looked healthy here..it takes amazing strength to hit those vocals as he always has,I feel that's where his energy has always come from , very simple , the core of his Body/gut/lungs/breath, and for Chris, it was GIFT plus VOICE and use/sharing, sharing, i"ll say for Chris, effing Effing Sharing his voice...same with Adele, Gift, Voice, Use...thank goodness they Used it, as with Eddie, Heart, Sinead, Whitney, Freddy Mercury, Geddy,Robert,Prince,Michael,Tyler,Lenox,Perry ET CETERA ...they found their GIFT, they used it and shared it ALL, NOT EASY, the pressure, the everything, keep within peaceful environments and when you're not, find that imaginary aura around your beautiful self to get through the negative environments, protect yourself with grace, honor your beautiful body when in negative environments, sometimes we haven't any choice to be there, you will get through, as I said before, I so wish we/someone was there to save Chris....my wish for all those suffering...to look high and over and in between, make it through that day, moment, year, you will, it's hard, you will and no one will OUTSHINE you, we are in this together. Love for the Cornells, Boyle, Karayiannis and above all Chris's beloved children and beloved wife. BrokenTogether, RepairTogether, LOVE

It’s a mind-trip to think that Chris Cornell, at his final performance of “Outshined,” a song he had performed for three decades, knew that it was the last time it would happen. But really, as Cornell’s performance that night was his best, as in off-the-motherfucking-charts the best, greatness fulfilled, how can we not conclude that he knew. It’s heart-wrenching and magnificent and so dismally sad that it puts our guts in our boots. After all, Chris Cornell, “the larger-than-life man who embodied rock and roll,” is dead by his own hand. Yet, he performed for us one last time, as a dead man walking. How perfectly fitting for an artist, creating art around his death-wish for decades, would walk off the stage in Detroit and hang himself. And, if he blew out his voice that night, and let’s face it, how could he not have, I maintain he blew it out on purpose. After all, he would never need it again. Detroit was Chris Cornell’s swan song. He chose the day. He chose the hour. He chose to end everything. Damn. Chris Cornell. Just. Damn. #outshined
