💬 LESSON DESCRIPTION:
This week's video is on my Autumn Leaves fingerstyle guitar arrangement.
In this arrangement, the melody and harmony of Autumn Leaves are separated into two distinct parts, so it's great for working on your solo guitar chops.
In the video:
• I play through the whole Autumn Leaves fingerstyle guitar arrangement with notation and tabs on the screen
• I walk through some technique reminders that will help you play the piece more smoothly
And at the end I have four suggestions for how to make this simple arrangement sound more advanced.
I hope you enjoyed my Autumn Leaves fingerstyle guitar arrangement! Let me know what you thought in the comments.
Thanks! :)

I just discovered this video. I don’t play guitar any longer because of a left shoulder injury, but do play ukulele. I watched the patterns in this video and the only one I play is the pinch pattern. It took 3 years, with embellishments, for “Puff the Mighty Dragon.” Next was “Freight Train,” then “City of New Orleans.” Thanks to you I have 3 new patterns to learn. Of course, with only four strings, I have had to adapt.

Hi Jared, Just stumbled upon your channel and really like yor way of explaining. I love playing finger style guitar, but often struggle between way too complicated partiture that takes me ages to figure out and memorise and oversimplified tabs or multi track tabs. This is exactly what I was looking for. Subscribed to your channel and looking forwards to seeing more of you.

Thanks for the great lesson. I play 9 or 10 gigs per month as a jazz guitarist. Did an occasional gig on upright bass until I got carpal tunnel syndrome in my left hand. Luckily I’m still able to play guitar gigs. I play duo, trio, quartet, mostly behind singers, horn players, guitar duos, guitar-bass duos, etc. There are a lot of things that I’m not good at, but the one that bugs me the most is that I’m afraid to take a solo guitar gig. I’m not bad at chord melody, but it sounds thin, because I’m not good at fitting in the bass lines with melody notes and letting chords ring, like two instruments, as you mentioned. I’m about to immerse myself in this lesson. Hoping to use this as a templet for more stuff. I’ll keep you posted. I just discovered your channel. New subscriber. Thanks, again!

Great lesson. I have been using Autumn Leaves as a framework for your Nail the Changes course (Minor and major 251s). I have been working on Jens Larsen's chord melody arrangement in the lower register (also in G minor) so this may force me into more fretboard territory. Together they may help me see the fretboard better and hopefully integrate the material.

Bonjour, merci et bravo… but what about the first part of this french tune which is a pretty one when played in chord melody « les feuilles mortes se ramassent à la pelle… » and so on, rubato , without any tempo. Have a try. Please. Cheers. ( an old man from France ).

Hello Jared, I wonder if you would disclose what amp you are using? Your tone is always really really nice!
@soundguitar
@soundguitar 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Michael! Glad you like the tone. I'm using a Fender Blues Junior with the bass turned up for warmth. I really like the way it sounds with my tele :) I mic it up with an SM57 right at the center of the speaker but facing it at a slight angle. I use a holy grail spring reverb pedal but don't really do anything else to it.
@michaelgaurnier3108
@michaelgaurnier3108 2 жыл бұрын
@@soundguitar Thank you. Nice and simple. Blues Juniors sound amazing. I’m surprised you use a reverb pedal over the reverb on the amp. It must have a great sound. I just tried a semi hollow custom shop télé yesterday next to a few 1960s fenders. It was the only new guitar that sounded almost as good as a 1966 strat. I’m a les Paul guy, but it sounded a lot better than the les Paul’s I tried…

I believe the score needs a correction. After the repeat where the words are "I used to hold", the tab notation is not correct. At least it doesn't conform to what you are playing. And doubt most people could actually do 5-0-9 on the 3rd, 4th, & 5th strings. Let me know if this has been corrected and I will download a new version. Thanks. I love this solo guitar rendition. It's just the sort of thing I'm trying to learn.
