Proof of the pudding was in the last few minutes with the example. Peaking or no, it shows the result is staggeringly good. Great job :)

how effective is using battons and filling with material compared to making a room within a room?
@jimprior722 күн бұрын
Hi @reaktivuk, great question, the layers in soundproofing system in this video is quite an expensive combination, used when rooms are not big enough for a floating room within a room approach. This batten system has 13 layers / components that really distorts the sound wave. A room within a room is better for tackling those Low frequencies of noise and for rooms with 150mm or more space available from the all the walls and 200mm off the ceiling. This batten system shown on the video is great when you already have a dense concrete block wall behind it. @@jimprior7 Thanks so much for this reply. I'm currently just looking at potential proptertys to buy / seeing what is available on the market (2 beds) and planning on converting one of the rooms into a studio. A lot of the places which are within budget don't have large enough rooms for a room within a room in my opinion however not sure what you would classify as not big enough aha. This video was really informative and have been watching your sound proofing videos to get a better understanding of what is possible.

Jim, is there a reason you prefer the mute clips just for the ceilings and not on the walls also?
@jimprior78 ай бұрын
Hey Abstract, Great question I had to give that some thought…. I can get a lot more layers on the walls with other materials in the space taken up by the clip and channel systems. The size of room and therefore span of most ceilings, it is tricky to build a floating ceiling frame (TPS80C) in the same way we build the floating frame wall system without a lot of space lost. When soundproofing a ceiling, the load bearing of the soundproofing materials means a floating frame to the ceiling requires big deep joists and therefore a lot of space from room is taken up…therefore (or you make a connection / support) so these cases better to use a clip and channel system. When soundproofing a ceiling, we find not many homeowners want to soundproof the walls in their apartment as well. Therefore they would not get integrity out of a thicker ceiling system.

I can’t find a video on your channel about sound proofing from neighbors below. Can you make a video apart how to reduce noise from downstairs floors without major structural alterations

Hey @Brucey69, Ok, give me a fews week or so and I will put something together for you, thanks very much for your comment. I only have this floating floor video which is more for developers meeting soundproofing Part E building regulations. kzbin.info/www/bejne/foW0gICOnL2de8ksi=H0klu5L-jaua4jBv Leave it with me.
