Do you have any experience with things like 9-18 mm of felt on an entire wall in order to both improve soundproofing and sound deadening? Or like cork mats to cover a wall with? Im working from home a lot and want to not annoy my wife, I've replaced the door with a very heavy sound proofing door that drops a soft double layer at the bottom when closing the door but i fear the wall is the weak point now + theres hardly any acoustic treatment

Say I gather a huge amount of empty cans and screwed them to the wall what effect would that have? I'm thinking #10 coffee cans, maybe lined with some kind of foam. My thinking goes , no angles to reflect so it should be quiet. I don't think it would help much for out side the room sourced sounds.

Why always recommending an inch of drywall or thin layer of vinyl? Recommend 6 inches of solid concrete and 4 inches of brick 🧱.

I have to ask ... was the recording of the video always made with the same microphone? When the panels are not present, it sounds like the recording is made from the camera and obviously the rest is made with the lavalier microphone.... not trying to provoke. Just very curios to understand the difference. Thanks for the video.

@Official360 20 күн бұрын
That's the same thing I was curious about. When he removed the panels I think he took off his mic to properly demonstrate the sound bouncing off the wall. At least thats what it sounds like.

Awesome vids but could you make one explaining how to soundproof my ceiling from the apartment above mine. Their floor boards are very old and extremely creaky, beyond what youd expect. Theres no noise proofing between the floor and the celing. The proximity of the my ceiling and their floor seems like 2 inches max because of how loud every single step and item falling sounds. The Landlord wont do anytning about, not even carpeting. Whats a cheap and effective DIY i can do for this super annoying problem?
@vicariousjohnson9823
@vicariousjohnson9823 2 ай бұрын
You cant, unless you can tear the ceiling apart and add more mas between the floor above and your ceiling.

@@soundproofguide I wonder if it's safe to use that butyl sticky pad stuff for cars direct on the compressor?.. It'd be far cheaper probably.

@soundproofguide I was saving money in my plan to soundproofing my room to be used as a one man musician's music studio (control room, vocal booth and etc.). Suddenly, before my saving was enough, my next wall neighbor started his semi outdoor café business (which including loud music and karaoke etc. everyday) on his front yard-garage area which shared same roof and only separated by a brick wall with/to my said room, so now it's become very noisy all the time, and to make it short, there's nothing I can do to stop him doing the business. Now, my question is, (I know even if it's still possible, it would be harder and more expensive for me, but) "Is it really still possible to make my room as soundproofed as maximum to be quiet enough as a studio, or how much is the possibility for me to still use my room, build the effective soundproof etc., for that purpose? (sorry for my bad English)

Great question, it’s possible to build a soundproof room for a studio but I’m not sure it would be super effective if there’s karaoke going on. If it’s just a cafe then it might be possible to have effective soundproofing. But since it’s for a home studio, it’s an uphill battle. All these methods are effective at noise reduction but will not eliminate 100% of the noise if you’re needing it to be “silent” for your home studio.

It's the vibration that is the WORST. Is there something to cover the bottom of the machine rather than inserting some pad??

How do I sound proof my apartment? Specifically the bedroom wall.
@douglashero3261
@douglashero3261 2 ай бұрын
To stop sound from leaving your apartment or coming in from your neighbors you need a very heavy wall 2 wall that doesn’t touch the existing wall. Double heavy walls that are isolated from each other is top solution. You could open the offending wall fill it with heavy insulation. You can put back the drywall add a vinyl layer the a 2nd layer of dry wall. You could add brick on the inside of your apartment on top of that you could then hang thick Turkish rugs on top of that.

i have a double pane window with gas between each pane, it does have helped in sound proofing but its not enough to block sounds like my neighbors, i live in a house built with block walls so no wood or Sheetrock walls, didn't knew about that mass loaded vinyl, i suppose ill start saving for it and some extra drywall, i wouldn't mind loosing a few centimeters from my room in exchange for some extra quietness

So acoustic panels alone will help lower the noise coming from my room right.
@soundproofguide
@soundproofguide 6 ай бұрын
Yes but you have to fully cover walls to get noticeable results. If you have echo however, filing the walls at least 20% will reduce enough of the echo to make the room less noisy.
