Thank you for sharing this. I'm a British transplant exiled 5000 miles away to Reno, Nevada USA and this is truly the sound of home 🇬🇧💔 I've been here four years, but it will never be home. I miss the UK and it's beautiful sights and sounds so much. But the hauntingly beautiful blackbird song is perhaps the sound I miss most of all. It's long, warm, balmy summer evenings with the scent of lilac in the air. It's winter mornings, hanging the washing out while the little sweetheart sings his heart out from the very top of a tall tree, his breath misting in the frosty air. It's the safe, secure memories of childhood; playing for hours in the garden. It's walking the dog along green, suburban streets. It's home, it's my soul, and it's both heartbreaking and heartwarming to hear it. I long to come back more than anything 💔💔💔 but for now, I put this on and I'm transported back home for just a little bit.

That's a really lovely message on nostalgia and longing for home. As someone still in Britain I am looking forward to the blackbird songs in the spring. I'm sure the Nevada desert has some exotic animals but you've made me appreciate the quaint wildlife of England.

It’s fascinating how many variations there are to the blackbird songs and calls when there are more than one in an area and occupying their own particular little territory. Some of them can get quite haunting. Love them!

I feel the same. When I grew up black birds were on the rooftops of the village I lived in and I enjoyed them all summer long. I have moved to the other side of the world a long time ago and miss the sound of black birds so much! That is why I come here to listen. Can you imagine that this particular bird might already be gone and that this singing still lives on and enjoyed by so many people like you and me? It pulls me back to living with my parents right away, while my parents have passed away long time ago. God, I miss this so much.

this brings back such warm memories of my childhood. warm summer evenings with beautiful light, smell of mowed grass and the garden, peace, cared for by my parents, the worries of this world had not intruded yet. we used to have a blackbird nest in one of our hedges every year and were able to observe the nest progress. I absolutely love the song of blackbirds. the males are so handsome. all black and a yellow beak.
@simoneric81835 жыл бұрын
Sometimes I freeze wherever I am in the street because I've just heard a blackbird singing. I don't want to miss anything of the fabulous notes. It seems when I talk to people about the double-note effect used by blackbirds, they look puzzeled, as if they thought I was exaggerating. Not at all. Blackbirds can sustain a pure unchanging note, like a drone, while modulating incredible effects on another one at the same time. And they use so many other patterns that they put together sometimes in frantic stanzas, sometimes on a slower pace. And always with astonishing expressiveness : you could swear it's a master disguised in a bird. Once in a while I wander around between birds and commentaries and rarely did I find any remarks or observations about the technical singing prowesses of the blackbirds. Listening carefully let us discover musical abilities one would hardly believe they come from a bird, and furthermore, from such a small bird, sizewise. A small creature so happy to communicate its joy of being alive through succesions of triplets or going from very very high notes to very low, almost guttural growlings. At times it's difficult to believe your ears, pure and simple ! Blackbirds are my friends forever and ever.

Wow I’ve just comeback on this comment section to find your reply from 10 months ago 😀 I have to tell u this it’s so awesome.. so obviously the blackbirds and robins are my best pals ! We have sing offs all day long , they come sit and in my tree and it they find me fascinating lol that I have mastered robin song at least :) and certain parts of blackbird’s song as the ones singing to me right now are the ones who sang with me last year too as they all have their own trademark compositions lol . So I can cope some parts from this video and it’s become my trademark tunes and the most amazing thing about it is this 1 particular blackbird who chills here most of all has began copying my version of this lol he sings it with all my imperfections too! So I’ve just played it again so he knows what I’m trying to sing hehe .. they are so clever! And the robin also.. a few robins and blackbirds now sing and pause while I copy them! 😧 and are all at it as I text . I find it an honour and privilege that I’m the first they think of in the morning as they are here even before light singing at in my front and back directly outside my house.. and I’m the last thing they think of at night when it gets dark.. they go crazy at this time and I have to copy the blackbirds, robins and dunnock atm too lol I sound like a crazy person doing it, but don’t care and I am fair with the attention I give all of them by copying them 😂🥰

Aww the 'good old trusty Blackbird'......My favourite birdsong ever.To me the Blackbird at dawn chorus or even evening chorus for me encapsulates everything that is quintessentially British.It reminds me of Summer and Countryside and tea on the lawn.The evenings onset after the last over after Cricket.Strawberries and Cream.It's a timeless sound that's filled with tranquillity and peace.The very best of British birdsong. I raised a Blackbird chick once when I was about 12 and I called my little Blackbird 'Onenote'.Eventually he fledged and I felt good because I had helped it survive.A naked Chick is one of the most fragile yet pathetic looking of creatures and they have plenty of character too. THANKYOU for the upload as it sends me off into a beautiful sleep.I also like the distant urban sounds too such as the odd moped off in the distance as these are all the sounds of a British rural or urban Summer symphony .

I always stop for at least a few seconds when I hear a blackbird. It's so pleasant to hear.

Thank you! I have been trying to figure out the bird's nesting in our backyard. These lovely birds actually imitate my "kitty whistle" when the cats are outside. So smart!

My favs are blackbirds, jays and also parakeets. I especially love to listen and focus on hearing blackbirds, because the more I hear them, the more I detect singularities among them. In fact we can say that blackbirds' chanting and whistling is so complex and varied that everyone of them is one of a kind. And sometimes for some of them so close to something like free jazz (I had to wait so long to discover that) ! On other occasions I get the impression that they tweak the same kind of harmonics as me when I'm in LFO mode on my synths... They are GREAT masters of sound.

One of my very favourite sounds in spring. I get ASMR. And with it being winter here in England, I suffer a bit from SAD and it really helps to lift my mood listening to this I don't have a light box but find that this works as an alternative to help

When my son was born, after a very long labour and early morning birth. I went outside into the hospital courtyard, feeling so many emotions. It all felt a bit numbing. Hard to describe exactly. Busy suddenly became quiet when I left the ward. I wandered for a few minutes and then heard the dawn call of a blackbird. The song of which I have always loved. Made me feel so very alive at the one pivotal moment in time. My life has since changed, after so many tumultuous years and I now suffer from terrible insomnia. You never choose to have insomnia, it always seeks you out and decides it wants you. The song of the blackbird is the sound I try and fall asleep to each night now. Seems to take forever most nights, but it's a song that always attempts to try and smooth

Since I was a child I felt connected to this bird.. I only found out today which bird it was. I grew up in northern nsw Australia and would hear its song on tv shows from England. I remember a sense of nostalgia at the sound. My mum came from England and I dreamed of going one day. I did go eventually. Later I lived in Melbourne where I could hear this bird too and would get the same sense of nostalgia. What a beautiful song

HI animal lovers. I'm so happy to come across this video. Tank you very much ! I've been working as an assistant in a birds refuge for some years now, situated in the south suburb of Paris. This is an ever so important experience -everytime I have this word in mind I'm with Jimmy, see whatta mean...- in my life. They gave so much to me day after day after day. Now a few of them talk with me sometimes, some others everytime they see me. I learnt to identify one pigeon from another (amidst one hundred birds population voliere), which was impossible for me at the begining.
