The Rippingtons used many of those sounds on their various releases. Love the poly brass patches and flute like tones. I bought one brand new. The pads are nice too. Layered it with the DX7, super Jupiter module, jx10, and OBXa etc. Feel fortunate to have grown up during the release of the up’s and 80’s synths.

One of the synths that dominated the 80s pop music. Much more versatile than Yamaha‘s DX7. The idea to combine sampled attack sounds with synthesized waveforms was revolutionary. The instrument offered top sound quality and very smart programmed presets. A true milestone in synthesizer history. I‘d wish that you would indicate the patches names in the video. To add it to the description would be a relative easy way. 🙂🙏🏻

Fm synthesis is versatile its was used for the sega genesis ym2612 but hard to program.

FM is much more expressive. Ever heard those Manny Fernandez DX7II patches, he did for Sound Source Unlimited, mimicking the D50 presets?

Does anyone know, if the Midi timing is inferior in comparison to the direct data connection of the D50s keyboard to it’s internal sound generation circuitry? Does the D550 “lag” more, is it more sloppy with polyphonic chords, if played via Midi?

I wouldn't think it would be any different, but I haven't compared this to the D-50. Definitely haven't noticed any lag with this module. Just plays great like any midi sound module should.

I switch to the patches on the card at about 28min in the video. Before that, it's the 64 internal patches, which I believe are just the stock/factory patches.

@@cgmagik9837 These Young folks like to see the old gear on stage. They like the Old School sounds and Bands of the 70's,80's and 90's. They are easy to organize. They look great in the Dark when Racked.

Wow. Good eye! haha. I had to look and see what you were talking about. It's not there anymore. Back then, for a few months, I had a weird small lump or something. It came and went. It was a little painful sometimes. I think it was a 'Ganglion Cyst'
