Cool review. I have a Kiesel PB5 and it my most favorite bass. So glad I bought it. It just growls wonderfully. Total joy to play.

That’s a great find! I’m a big fan of the Carvin/Kiesel basses since 2010. Their Zeus bass is my absolute favorite. Get one with a chambered mahogany body, flamed maple top, and walnut/purple heart neck. I think you’ll love it. I have mine with their preamp, and radiused single coils in the ‘60’s position. Fantastic tone!!

I just found a used five string unlined fretless Osiris bass on Reverb. Plays better than I thought it would. I almost got a BB75F fretless, but someone beat me to it. It replaced an LB75 that just didn't quite make it for me. Semi-traded it for the Osiris bass. Plays great. Mine has the hard as nails fingerboard, so the lines and dots would be uncalled for. Mine has the split pickup in front, and the single coil in back. The front pickup gets most of the work. Thinking about switching the electronics with EMGs. They give me the sound I want for my fretless vibe, and they do it without the buzzing/noise.

I used to own a Kiesel ZBM5. It was a great instrument but I prefer a Vaser body shape. So...that's what I got now and I have to say that my VBM5 is the best bass guitar I've ever played.

@@soundslikeben I am debating whether or not I want to sell my Music man Bongo 6 to get one. But the catch is, the Bongo is a limited edition Emerald Sparkle series that was only available for a one month ordering window. I bought it used through Guitar Center, and it is like 99.9 % in perfect shape. So we'll see. Thanks for your time.

Hey Ben, I’m late to this party but that is an awesome looking and sounding bass…of course the sound is 90% your fingers. After 40-yrs on keyboard, I started on 4-string bass a few years ago. From the start I was drawn to 6-string because of its versatility. …really like the single cut. Maybe Kiesel has some scratch-and-dents at a reduced priced-smile. Also, what brand of strap are you using with that bass? It looks wide enough but not too chunky. Peace.
@soundslikeben2 жыл бұрын
I have had that strap forever. It is a Levy’s leather strap. That bass had a great sound. Being an all walnut 6 string, it was a bit heavy.

This bass sounds absolutely terrific--plenty of clarity and growl in the tone. I'm in the process of ordering a fretless from Kiesel. Does this one have the "hard as nails" finish on the fingerboard?
@soundslikeben Жыл бұрын
Yes, it does. I love that aspect of this bass
@quantumeseboy8 ай бұрын
I have a question about this bass, what is the body wood? The same as the top wood? And do you happen to know if this fretboard finish is what Kiesel refer to as "hard as nails" finish? Thanks.

Great review..What did Gary think of the bass in Spain.
@soundslikeben5 жыл бұрын
We didn’t talk about the bass too much although he did help me adjust the break angle of the B string over the nut. This bass is much heavier than his due to the all walnut configuration (and 6 strings). I’m curious as to how much one of these would weigh with an ash body and maple neck, but I’m so pleased with the sound that I choose to ignore the added weight.
@bassmonk29205 жыл бұрын
@@soundslikeben Do you think the SCP vintage split coil humbucker pickups would give it a more Jaco tone like on a 63 J Bass

Did you feel any weight on your left shoulder when using a strap? I hear these balance well, but it's so hard to believe it with the strap button location.
@thealtered74 жыл бұрын
How does the lack of a head stock effect the balance of the instrument while playing standing up? Is the instrument appreciably lighter than an instrument with a head stock?

Sounds more Pedulla in the upper register.....is that because of the hard coating?

@soundslikeben Жыл бұрын
I liked the low B. No issues with it. I don’t remember thinking, “OMG what an amazing low B string!”, but I also never felt like it was weak. It just fits in with the rest of the bass.

What is the weight of this bass?
@soundslikeben5 жыл бұрын
Hi Andrey, I don’t have a reliable scale at the moment, but I can say it feels about the same as my Sire V7. The smaller body and headless design help relieve some of the weight of an all walnut bass.
