Thanks for clarifying the “no need for the shift button to toggle between static looks and auto scripts”. Sound Switch documentation on the control one is slim to say the least.

The whole concept of this controller being targeted for DJ's is amazing, but man there are some wierd quirks with how they set things up. You nailed it with the Group 2 vs. Group 4 toggle not needing shift.. literally didn't even realize that until I watched this video. Was pressing Shift+Group1 to switch to Group 2 before, lol

Rekordbox lighting kills me this look awesome. Interface really is amazing sounding. When the software analyzes songs does it assign a mood based on bpm and whether it thinks chorus break drop etc.

The analysis has presets for different songs, so in essence you’re telling the generator what mood you want for the song, and then it generates something based on that preset. Hope that helps!

The times I control my moving heads manually are like I described in the video. Otherwise, the amount of autoloops you can create in SoundSwitch really makes it easy to have lighting scenes that have moving head patterns to match the mood of the music.

I was disappointed with my touch fader as well. but overall still worth it! The other thing that happened to mine right out of the box was one of the little rubber feet fell off and was still in the box, so maybe they could use a stronger adhesive or something...

After some time it seems like SoundSwitch ironed out the kinks with the touch fader with firmware updates.

I have the control one...is there a way to reset the control one back to its original factory state? I have tried to uninstall the soundswitch software through the add and remove programs in windows, but it must be stored in the windows memory

Hi Alden - Question, I'm having issues connecting my "overseas" purchased uplights (RGBWAUA) to sound switch. All other fixtures are patching and functioning very well however the 20 or so units I have do not seem to be connecting. I should mention I am using wireless DMX provided my Chauvet and I'm winding if there is channel incompatibility with the wireless transmitter from the SS controler one to the generic uplights? Thoughts and hope your day is going well! JP

From what you described, I would say your best bet is to contact SoundSwitch support: [e-mail] Send them the manual with the DMX chart for your lights, and they will create a DMX profile specifically for your light in the software. This may fix it, but I can't guarantee.

I was able to get my Chinese uplights connected to sound switch using the Chauvet XLR Di-Fi units. The problem with those now is that they do this annoying intermittent flicker while using the wireless transmitters by Chauvet. Have you heard of anyone encountering this issue and finding a workaround or solution to the intermittent flicker? Thanks in advance. @@soundfiredj1

I know the sound switch does not connect to rekordbox, ur is there a way for me to pre-program a light show for a set I make in rekordbox and still perform the set and have the light show play? Or am I screwed because I use rekordbox??

Kinda screwed. After soundswitch was released Rekordbox introduced their integrated lighting software which to the layman looked like a very close, but slightly different version of soundswitch. I don’t know any of the ins & outs of this. If I had to guess though I’d be willing to bet pioneer is keeping soundswitch out hoping you’ll buy their software. Again, that’s purely a guess.

From what I’ve heard you can use Ableton link with Rekordbox and SS, but you’re limited to auto loops.

How can you control lights individually?

Hey Shane. Not sure how familiar you are with SoundSwitch. The way it's designed to be used is not like your usual work desk DMX software. To control individual fixtures you would pre-program what you want each fixture to do in a preset loop, a specific song, or a static scene. What the Control One does is give you shortcuts to quickly go to a preset loop or a static scene. If you program a light sequence to a specific song, that light sequence is automatically loaded with the song, unless you override it. If you're looking to control individual fixtures, on the fly during an event, with the slight exception of static scenes, this is not the right software.

I can see where the Soundswitch could be handy. What I feel is ridiculous is the subscription required. Why would I pay a monthly fee for something I purchased. Talk about a bleed you dry situation.

They have an option to purchase SoundSwitch through a one time fee as well. At the time of writing this comment the price for buying the software outright is $199 per their website.

I have not, but that's not a bad idea. I have noticed that it seems SoundSwitch has ironed out the kinks with the touch strip through firmware updates, and it seems to be more stable now.

It should be a 90 day free trial. If you keep it beyond that then you get the subscription. I already have a mydmxgo that’s a bust.

Unfortunately I'm not affiliated with SoundSwitch to make these kinds of business decisions. I can tell you that from my personal experience it's well worth it. Just like any DMX software you'll want to take some time to set it up, do some programming/customization, and you'll want to update the software as you update your fixtures. It's way more powerful than My DMX Go, both in its capabilities of what you can program as well as the fact that if you program enough of your music, you can go a whole night without having to touch your lighting at all. I love the fact that with soundswitch I have an awesome light show, while freeing me up to focus more on the music and my DJing.
