Soundtown UPM-Q3 Power amp review

I got a chance to use this amp driving mains for a small show last weekend. Also use a Sinbosen K 4-450. UPM-Q3 puts out 600w @8 per channel and Sinbosen puts out 450w @8. In real life it’s about 1/2 that! But still is a fine amp for monitor duty.

That SoundTown LOOKS like a Powersoft. The interior however... Would be interesting to get a real output number on them and the Sinbosen as there are only minor differences. Great video and exactly as I like them!

Not sure where this design comes from but it’s definitely being copied a lot. These amps are far more prevalent overseas, if it’s well made and tested I don’t mind using them but these amps I’ll probably rotate out in a year for something better. I’ve been impressed with the CVR amps and I’ll do a review in a month or so

@MrSamsstudios The exterior looks like the Powersoft M-series. That interior looks like a generic power module. With some digging we should be able to find the origin of it. If we want to. And thumbs up on that CVR review as it's unknown in Europe.

I’ve used the two channel on one of my Turbosound TSW218 and it sounded great. Went strong for 10 hours. No problems stayed nice and cool. Well it was a little bit warm but nothing crazy. I have the four channel 2 of those I’m gonna be running subwoofers on them using only two channels on each amp running half power. So cross your fingers it’s a festival and it’s three days long.

I’d really recommend a stinger power amp for what you’re doing. The amp specs aren’t correct, there is no way these amps put out 1150w per channel at 4 or 600 @ 8. Most likely that’s a peak rating and you should expect 300w @8, 575 @4. Also these amps don’t bridge and are not stable at 2ohm. That said they’re fine for light duty applications

I'm thinking of buying it to use on drivers. Did you get a good amp or did you have any problems?

For horns it’s perfect, not much power, reliable little amp

It’s on the small side, decent for monitors. None of the soundtown amps are large enough for subs/mains. They say they have a lot of output but I seriously doubt it

Id sag NOT its a fake powersoft Buy a CVR 8002 that amp has a real set of balls i had many of them and for about the same price it will drive anything you hook up to it unlike that POS in the video

Ran a 4ohm Dual 18 easy for 8 hours. Kept gain at noon

I don’t think reliability is the issue with his amplifiers, the issue is they don’t put out rated power at all. I’d strongly suggest like a CVR amplifier or something similar, the cost is greater but I think you’ll find it the correct power you’re looking for mains and subs.
