This is the arrangement my school’s band is playing this year. It’s a great arrangement though I do wish Murtha had given the opening solo to the French Horn instead of the saxophone to mimic the actual movie sound track

They probably wanted to avoid the Hn. Solo pun.

Listening to this reminds me of an uncomfortable time that I wish I had learned to appreciate and not get so pegged into the feelings of me that felt odd. After a prequel trilogy that certainly had some serious flaws with its execution but had some great ideas behind it, and a reboot in the form of VII that was pretty good, IF a bit indulgent with its fondness of the originals...here was the one movie that seemed to be the ultimate achievement of "true" Star Wars since 1983. A movie that was a massive painting and collage of powerful ideas (fondness of the past vs hatred of it, tearing down old systems and creating an ideal in-between, redemption, hatred consuming all of one's choices, being made insecure by false feelings of grandiosity, how centrism benefits fascist forces, etc.) and used the format of Star Wars to tell just that. Sure, Luke being a figure that pushed Kylo to the dark, some of the Canto Bight, and Holdo material left me with an uneasy feeling in my stomach, but only after repeat viewings and listening to other opinions did I realize what it was saying and doing for Star Wars. The fact it made me uncomfortable was a GOOD thing it turns out, not a bad one as I look back on seeing it in the winter of 2017/2018. All before Rise of Skywalker came in...
