This is for my mom. She was 86 years old. She was taken by the Lord and was brought to Heaven last Feb 25, 2019 to receive eternal grace and salvation. I truly miss you mom. I miss hugging you, I miss giving you a kiss, I miss feeling your heartbeat, I miss cradling you in my arms, I miss taking care of you. Someday I'll bring you a bouquet of fresh white flowers everyday, someday when we're together in Heaven.

86 years was great number. You are lucky as so many die in their 40s,50s, 60s. The longer one stays the greater the love, the greater the sense of loss. Time does heal.

A beautiful soundtrack. I met Mancini and Albert Finney on two separate occasions in London in the 1980s and 1990s. Both were nice, great company and charming. Spent over 3 hours with Finney smoking cigars, drinking fine wine and talking about our shared love of films and theatre and our mutual acquaintances (I trained as an actor in 60s London during which time which I also worked for the National Theatre at the Old Vic, and on several West End original productions, including The Sound of Music and Cabaret). So lucky to have spent a little time with my great heroes, especially Finney for I was a huge fan.❤

77 yrs old here, having been born in 1946 . . . . We now listen to this music from a totally different perspective, don't we . . . . . . Yet it still affects us the same way . . . . . . . Still breaks my heart and soothes in the same moment. What would we really do without all the beautiful music that has been given to us???❤

In Two For The Road, composer Henry Mancini came up with one of his most heartfelt and beautiful main themes, which perfectly captures everything about the marital journey in the film: From its joys to its sorrows, to its recriminations, betrayals, and rebounds. The picture also marks the fourth and last collaboration of Mancini and actress Audrey Hepburn, but what a pretty "end of the road" that movie is! Enjoy!

...and if it weren't for the movie, perhaps Mancini wouldn't have had a reason to compose this beautiful piece. The love theme for Two For The Road really surprised me when I first heard it. How fortunate we are to have this lovely, lovely tune to come back to time and time again!

Probably Henry Mancini's most beautiful theme for a motion picture. It even surpasses Breakfast at Tiffany's. Every time I hear it I think of Audrey Hepburn.
@adrianovasconcelos27392 жыл бұрын
I agree that it is a sublime theme, but I still prefer Moon River from Breakfast. And the Charade and Pink Panther themes are equally memorable. Great composer, good old Henry!

Apparently Hepburn sent Mancini handwritten note requesting he participate in her new film with Stanley Donen, they had already worked on Charade together. Mancini consented & I belive later stated it became his favorite score.

I chose this song/ music for my wedding song 46 years ago and little did I know at the time, that it would be prophetic. My beloved husband and I were blessed to enjoy the most marvelous experiences together in our very many two for the road journeys together. They were our pinnacle moments in our marriage( outside of the births of our 3 precious children and our many grandchildren). We relished each other the most on our many trips by car, on a Vespa ,or in our Alfa spider convertible. A month ago I lost him to a Vespa accident and feel a void that is inexplicable. My yearning for him throbs in every pore and vessel within. The theme and words of TWO FOR THE ROAD trigger me into a meltdown at the memories and hard cold awareness that my precious soulmate has 'gone on'. It is one of the most beautiful melodies ever! And it did indeed purport for a blessed life together.

What's so amazing about this soundtrack is that Mancini is even able to delve into an ultra-modern sound (from 13:14 to 13:48), which is the moment when the couple's relationship has hit the skids and it looks like they're going to break up. And that entire atonal sequence seems totally appropriate against all the gorgeous melodies and harmonies that abound in the rest of the movie. He truly knew how to make an image out of sound. Genius!

Henry Mancini ( _man shee nee_ ) is for me the greatest composer of my soul. This main theme is wich makes me cry like a child, cause it touches the deeper fiber of soul. I dedicated this song to my love, who is not togheter with me now. I never forget the moment when he asked me _May I love for ever?_ Yes, of corse I said between teardrops. And I will love you forever, too. I promise you! And I now style here loving him as I said him ... forever.

People don't realize how music supports a movie giving it emotional meaning. I live not far from where Mancini was born, steel and blue collar. Funny how such romance came from the valley of steel, it was a work ethic that let a genius blossom through the surroundings reflecting what those people felt inside.
