Watching Resnais' film was superfluous after this evocative, haunting late masterpiece score from Dr.Rózsa engulfed the theater. I remember how moving was to hear the Maestro still in top form at 70. Congrats to Fred for a superb cue editing+selection.

"Providence" was one of the highlights of 1977, not only got it several international prizes, but featured a fantastic and haunting score by the great Miklós Rózsa, who took himself slightly back from the film business, only scoring a picture once a few years. Enjoy his very energetic score, featuring unreleased music such as the scherzo-like Plaisir De Vivre and Le Herisson. Le Vieil Homme comes in a slightly damaged version, but worth to listen to all in all.

Fred...bless your soul for keeping these old soundtracks alive. This suite shows that Dr. Rózsa had not lost his touch in old age...beautiful. Keep going Fred...one day, before I die, I hope to see your name in the music credits for a great film.... From an old friend.

I don't think this score is as well-known as several others by Dr. Rozsa. It is superb, of course, and as has been pointed out the film would have not been nearly as effective without this music. But, then, which films that he scored would have been as great without his work?
