I want to retrofit DCC into a Lionel train setup. I don't think it is DCC ready. I will need to cut out old boards and figure out wiring myself. Motor, lights, speaker need to be wired onto new decoder board for an ogauge train. I think there is need for 5A but actually with my background knowledge of electronics I'm surprised such small devices need so much current. Anyway hope you can recommend a decoder DCC board and even more retrofitting videos. Thanks.

Just went to your website.. Found ALL variations of your 4 amp decoders are out of stock. When do you expect to have these back in stock? I have a need for greater than 2 amps on the motor, and sound files for an O scale 2 rail GE AC44ES, in NS, for one of the 'Heritage Fleet' of a few years ago.

Yes our TSU-4400 is out of stock at the moment. We don't have an exact date for their return, but keep an eye on our website.

Soundtraxx, what if I am just looking for a non sound decoder? Where do I find what decoder I need for a HO Walthers Proto GP9 released within the last year?

You will want to measure the space you have available and test the stall current of the model. All the MC decoders are 1a, so they should be fine in Most HO and N scale models. The main deciding factors will be space and function outputs. I have bought a Kato GP35. But I want to model it after a Cotton Belt de turbocharged locomotive i.e. GP38. So do I buy the one for the GP35 and down load a GP38 sounds?

You cannot download sounds on our decoders. You pick the decoder format (shape) that fits your model and then the sound profile that matches the sounds you want. Each sound profile has multiple prime movers available. For an HO GP35 a TSU-PNP8 will fit. EMD 885813 is the sound profile you want.
