Soup's discussion over the things he loves and the boundaries of small town syndrome really hit hard for me. I grew up a lot like him, but I've never had someone like Ethan to remind me that it's okay to remove myself from the "norm", I've never had people around me besides my immediate family that are like minded and grounded like he mentioned. What I have, though, is this podcast - I have these guys to teach me the things I should have been taught. The second half genuinely made me cry, I've never heard something so heartfelt and just simply human. I'm from a random, buttfuck nowhere town in goddamn Indiana. I completely understand the struggles Soup and Doo had during their childhood, I'm still a child myself and I'm still going through it. Maybe that's why it's difficult for me to word this in a structured manner, but you know what Soup was drunk I don't care. It's a very comforting reminder that there's other people like me, that it's okay to be weird, that everything finds a way to work out in the end. I've been told I'm weird, I'm an outcast, I should be like the other kids, but the fact that these funny moments guys, these guys who seem much more fortunate than I am, these guys, these guys that I look up to, that I take inspiration from for my own humor and that give me inspiration for my own art (regardless of it being illustration rather than music)... It's sad that other people have to deal with it. It's a tragedy, but a tragedy that builds amazing people. The Goons are the reason why I'm pursuing my dreams. Beyond the funny moments and racist jokes, these guys are awesome people, and I aspire to follow the trail they blazed for self expression and art. Thank you guys. For everything.

As long as you aren't hurting others, do whatever the fuck you want. It's our own life and we should be able to live it how we want to, no matter how ridiculous it may seem to others. Being laughed and even discriminated towards for being who you are hurts, but don't let these people change you into who they want you to be. Always be yourself, no matter what.

This is the best episode. We've had the funniest episodes, the lamest, the most of every direction. But this episode is the best Starts off with the usual humor and storytelling but then, when the liquor hits, it gets emotional and *real* . This is the band, this is what musicians need to hear, this is how they all feel. I honestly don't think we've had this kind of depth in any other episode. It is the best

Also adding to the small town conversation I grew up in a small town in Texas, grew up a stupid emo kid, depressed asf, you're supposed grow up, get a shitty job & push out little shitty kids in your small town & the cycle continues. But everyone was just all country music, Blake Shelton, Reba, all the same stuff. Luckily my mom not only showed me her music taste; funk, the 90s alt we listened to when I was a kid, CCR & what have you but my dad died when I was a child so I didn't know him as much as I would've liked but she showed me the kind of music my dad lived for, he was a stoner metalhead. Huge Metallica fan, Poison, Black Sabbath & all the amazing bands from back in the day. I've been blessed to have such music savvy parents 🤘🏻

I gotta say, the parts where you guys were talking about growing up in the middle of nowhere, no interest in metal, etc. really hit home. I've been in TN most my life, had a graduating class of 42 and out of everyone I knew locally, there were maybe 5 total people who listened to metal that weren't family and pretty much nobody who played instruments for said genre. I've been trying to make it as a solo artist for a hot minute now, experimenting in genres anywhere from electronic to metal to cinematic. I just wanted to say that part really hit home and gave me some confidence that my struggle as an artist isn't a unique experience.

I have to say that this has been one of the best episodes and probably the most inspiring. I really appreciate soups raw love for his friends in his drunken state. Funny as it is, it's incredibly wholesome

Dude, I was playing Death Stranding while listening to this podcast, and Soup's wholesome commentary mixed with a random Low Roar song that the game played was so fitting, it almost brought a tear to my eye, i love yall so much, never change.

@59:55 Halifax was the same exact way on NYE following the Canada Vs Sweden game. Everyone out and about on the streets, screaming and yelling, celebrating Canadas win. Was a very epic time, hope I get to experience something similar very soon.

Soup was hammered and you become truthful with everything you say and to me that just shows that everything he was saying about Ethan, and the band is how he truly feels, and to me that’s wholesome af. I like long episodes when Blarg isn’t trying to end it

God damn, did not expect this episode to be deep and down to earth. Hearing everyone talk about the passion they have for what they do, really enjoying what they do, and seizing the opportunity to do something you love hit me harder than Soup hit the other band’s trailer, lol. But in all seriousness, it was great to hear, and gives me motivation to go after what I really want to do, and make something of it. Glad that I can relate to these boys/Goons.
