Beautiful washer. My mom had the older 1956 model. Worked great for years. I threw a sock in it while it was spinning the repair man had to take the whole thing apart. It worked perfectly for years after that.

Your video really makes me miss my very first GE laundry pair. I bought the top of the line, extra large capacity model with all the bells, whistles, lights and push buttons. It was beautiful. It had chrome everywhere on the control panel and on the main control knob. Both washer and dryer lit up all the way across the top. It had the mini wash basket and filter ring that fit on top of it. I paid around twelve hundred dollars for the pair, but It was worth every penny. That was in 1973. I used them for fifteen years and never had any kind of a problem. I let the pair go with the house when I sold it in 1988. They don’t build them like that anymore. I ran into the couple that bought the house a couple of years later, and they said that both washer and dryer were still going strong. What a great video. I would love to have your know how so that I could build myself a super washer. I have Speed Queen pair now that I bought new in 2014. So far so good. Only time will tell what kind of service the pair will give me.

Would it be possible to connect this machine to IoT (smart home, household automation etc.) without ruining its original mechanical timer feature? (If the timer has a "fast forward" solenoid, it's technically possible to electrically turn it into any preset notches by overriding the timer motor and the fast forward solenoid with two relays and a MCU. Or an external stepper motor can be hooked up to the knob for remote operation)

1:09 i originally thought the gurgling was just the noise the agitator made since it's agitating at about the same "tempo" of the gurgling, but then when you lowered the agitation speed, i got creeped out. but then i looked at the filter flo spout and noticed it was shifting at the same frequency as the gurgling, so now i guess the original pump would sound like that when being driven in the agitate direction with no water in the tub

Can I pay you to re-design my filter flo? Me and my husband have one at our summer home. I have a mid 1980s machine the clutch is worn but it still cleans even with the annoying noise. I was concerned about asbestos in the clutch and I’m afraid to replace it even after buying a brand new clutch for it. Would it be best to just abandon the old system entirely and upgrade it like yours. This is flawless !!! I want mine to operate this well, without the worry of dust ! I swear this thing ommits some kind of smell but it’s metallic so it’s prob just the clutch housing wearing away

This is a solid tub washer, meaning the only way to get water out of the tub is by centrical force which throws it over the top of the tub. There are no holes/perforations in the tub below the top rim. Besides I don't like neutral drain washers as it sifts the dirt and silt through the clothes if the tub just sits still during pump out.

@DeansWasherVideos4 жыл бұрын
I know you posted this a while ago so you may have already found this out, but stepping the voltage down is the easy part. To make them operate normally you also need to step the frequency up from 50 to 60hz which the transformer will not do. That's the hard part. It would be very difficult and expensive to get that equipment I believe. I know in maytags they have 50 or 60hz pulleys so they could be switched out to correct the transmission speed but won't correct the timer motor speed. I have often thought about bringing one of my favourite Fisher and Paykel mechanical washers from New Zealand to Canada where I have moved to, but can't find a simple solution to change the frequency from here 60hz to 50hz which it needs, as in my case everything will run faster than designed, not slower, as it's the reverse of your case. Let me know if that makes sense!
@thomasstevens64412 жыл бұрын
Changing the voltage frequency also changes the timing of how fast the timer runs, thus slowing down the machine. Not much can be done about that.
