Has there been any research undertaken to estimate the optimum amount of regrowth after an initial mowing of long established rushes, at which to carry out the weed wiping? I.e. is is most effective when regrowth is at 30cm / 50cm etc, or does it make no difference?

The Teagasc advisors in Ireland are telling farmers to Drain land as a method to reduce rushes and the Government advice is to implement a land re wetting programme in the near future which involves blocking drains for the purpose of reducing carbon, A farmer would be best not to listen to either of these
