That uranium glass is Awesome! It's like its from another planet! I just hate it when people return the glass because its not what they thought it was! 😊

I always enjoy the videos when you go around the store shelves, I used to love nothing better than to route around in boxes and on the shelves, you just never know what you will come across. I was looking through piles of stuff at one car boot sale once & came across a loaded handgun in one of the boxes, I told the store holder who just grabbed it out & put it in their car straight away. What the heck a loaded pistol was doing there in the first place was a wonder to me. The UK is very hard line compared to the USA on guns & knives weapons of any kind, but this was back in the 1990s, these days they would have for sure been arrested for even having one in position, especially just stuck in a random box full of things for sale. Thank you, Don. Charles in the UK

When you mentioned illegal items and then started looking at military stuff, I was thinking that it was going to be one of the higher tier medals that are not supposed to be sold except as replacements for lost/destroyed ones.

I have been to a few of those antique booth malls, and seemed to me so much stuff was priced at some where I couldn't make any money as if the sellers were pricing at ebay "asking" prices or one of those antique price books. And the few times I was able to see the actual seller renting a booth, there was no way they would even come down in price, even when I tried to put together a 'lot". Just not worth my time to do a hunt for a few things that I could make a few bucks on...
@smokerscough29072 жыл бұрын
I’ve noticed the same. This type of upselling and overpriced “antique” stuff is what killed my local antique store and put it out of business.

Howdy Don! Love shopping with your knowledge! Looking for a booth rental like this. Not pleased with the shops in my area. Thinking about a local mom and pop pawn shop that needs filling. What is a good price for booth rental and commission? Sending sunshine to the family..hope things are looking up and back to normal. 🌬🌈🌞

I found a "camping knife" at a thrift store. At least that's what the box said. Knife with flipping action if you catch my drift. Goodwill is banning the sale of license plates where I live. So if you want to craft with them, you can't. Found some and wouldn't let me buy them.
@asterix78422 жыл бұрын
I guess, technically, they are government property. I don't think I've ever seen license plates for sale anywhere, except on ebay.

Is it illegal to buy and sell tortoise shell items if they’re antique? I think selling of ivory is permitted if it’s over a certain age.
@TheAuctionProfessor2 жыл бұрын
Tortoise shell is Federal Banned. Ivory can only be sold under a very few exceptions, and you would need a Federal document that declares that it was imported prior to a certain date. Without the correct and very rare documentation you can not sell them. Both are covered under Federal Law.

What to do with illegal items like that? It'd be a shame to destroy it.
@shanewestphal15572 жыл бұрын
Only thing you can do is donate it to a museum, or keep it. I believe it's legal to own and possess. I do not believe it is legal to purchase or sell.

Great video guy’s! I picked something up, and I can’t find a thing on it through regular research. I think I may have overpaid. I have never seen an all glass green lightbulb including the thread from Japan . It came with a strange looking socket too. Do you know anything about them? It’s stamped at the top with a capital F Japan

If the tortoise shell item is over 100 years old it is perfectly legal to sell.
@TheAuctionProfessor2 жыл бұрын
Sorry that is NOT true. If the item was legally imported prior to 1947 you can posses it, but you can not sell it or transport it over state lines. Very few items could actually be sold. To be sold you would have to have a Federal document proving that it was first imported prior to 1947, and second that it was legally imported. Both of which would be nearly impossible to met those requirements in almost every case.
@fireseid12 жыл бұрын
@@TheAuctionProfessor According to the US Fish & Wildlife Service, under the CITIES act, it is a violation of Federal law to import, export, transport, sell, receive, acquire, or purchase in interstate or foreign commerce any endangered wildlife or endangered wildlife products. You can own a product that was made before 1947, if it has been highly modified from it's natural state prior to 1947. IF you can prove it was made before 1947 you can get a Special Permit to sale item ONLY IN THE FORM IT WAS ORIGINALLY SOLD AS prior to 1947.
@fireseid12 жыл бұрын
If it was just a tortoise shell, you would have a huge problem, a container made before 1947 I don't think you would have a problem, selling on ebay might be an issue.
@TheAuctionProfessor2 жыл бұрын
Yes I've read that many times myself, but unless you have a Federal Accepted document printed prior to 1947 that states it was legally imported then you can not sell it. End of story. Problem is that back prior to 1947 they didn't ask for an import form. I've never in all these years even seen a form from prior to 1947. No tortoise items are stamped with a date so nearly everything would be off limits. Any random item you find out sourcing wouldn't have any documentation at all. There is no way to satisfy the requirements to sell the item in nearly every single case.
@fireseid12 жыл бұрын
@@TheAuctionProfessor All true, but I have never see anyone get harassed at an antique show for selling tortoise shell comb or hair receiver, but it's not worth trouble in my opinion. I did see a guy have his Bengal tiger taxidermy confiscated.
