The Springboks, like any team, are better if they play for something bigger and they can make it personal. Whether it's a construct or not, Rassie is good at building that narrative and I'm sure Farrell is also a great motivator. In a game of inches, the little things will matter.

love the pod but in listening to Etsebeths press conference, he did acknowledge there's probably a misinterpetation on his part on what was meant by the irish lads and how he received it. which is what irish commentors had said when they heard his initial comments.
@UlrichHoltzhausen3 ай бұрын
The culture is different but both countries have great people. Rassie has done a tremendous job for his country and is a legend like Danie Craven and will be inducted into the IRB/World Rugby hall of fame. Remember if not for modern medicine he would be facing a life threatening illness and he's as positive as anyone. Also had a very difficult childhood w.r.t his dad. He comes in, throws Heineke and Jake's policy of bigger is better out the window and selects Kolbe. Now we have several similar player playing and another heading to Munster.

We actually enjoy the Irish. I think ask the average South African who'd they'd rather back against and it would be England and Australia every time before Ireland. That said from personal experience I seem to recall there being "niggle" as way back as 2006, when apparently in Dublin John Smit asked the ref if he could talk to his boys, the ref said yes, and while his back was turned Ronan O Gara think it was took a quick tap and scored. The public didn't like that. As for Irish people in general, when I guided Irish people in South Africa I found your sarcastic humour is very similar to ours. We enjoy Scots and Irish sense of make fun of ourselves and almost cynical humour.

The main thing, especially in rugby, will always stay the main thing which is the performance on the pitch. So why not let the media hype the series, the occasion and the spice. I believe it’s only good for the game.

Im still waiting to see a South African in general do a non bias take and lose a grudge and a chip that they hold on to forever. Once again, Rassie is all over the mind games with the media, and I see Etzebeth is learning from him. He's a Seriously great coach, but he loves his own voice a bit too much. Ireland not taking the bite when Rassie,s comments are brought to them by the media . Saying that Ireland is looking a bit flat and in need of a change up and South Africa looking good for a 2 0 win in this tour

Argentina are the best team in the world because they won the football world cup, south Africa are the best team in the world because they won the rugby world cup, alot of ex players and the media are trying to annoy the south Africans, we are going there more in hope than expectation, and anybody who thinks differently are living in cuckoo land, we are not playing well and our regions were shambolic in the latter end of the season, maybe Farrell and o connell can get these lads purring again but logic would suggest a 2 nil defeat 😳

Honestly boys, I find it really amusing how all of a sudden Ireland aren't " the best team in the world" according to EVERYONE. Maybe it's because I haven't listened to you guys as you weren't on my feed until now but in SA you couldn't go an hour without hearing how Ireland are the best even though they got knocked out the world cup. Maybe I've been baited quite badly by the (mostly) northern hemisphere media but yeah, all I hear now is how tough this game is and how the Irish haven't called themselves the best in the world for 9 months now. Excuses in my eyes to put it bluntly. Just an observation from a Saffa but yeah, may the best team win. It's going to be absolutely electric. Go Bokke, much respect from Cape Town🇿🇦🔥

All I'm saying is keep talking up until and during the test series...don't change the tune when the pressure is on.
