I remember i was so isolated from the reality of what was happening. I was in Grade 4 we were told that we were going to have black class mates and the very next day i had my first black friend. We sat together most of my primary school years, we were so different but we didn't care. It amazes me looking at this at 37years of age at what the reality of the world was at the time, what really was the tone outside. I'm glad i wasn't indoctrinated with hate an separatist ideas. I'm glad i that in RSA isn't like this anymore and we know she isn't perfect. My wish is a decent competent, non corrupt and non racial government, for all. My wish for my son is he can live a full and colorful life in RSA and all she has to offer without limitation and prejudice.

I have a feeling due to what I see in the footage that the school had voted to remain a state school. A state school had to have a non racial policy with enrollment, but it looks like some of the Afrikaners where unhappy with this and had prevented the black children for entering the school previously. It also sounds like from the interview that it became a legal matter and the court upheld the non segregation policy and had the police prevent any interference from the few Afrikaners preventing the children from entering the school.
