The ANC and the DA, though approaching the topic from completely opposite sides idealogically, and despite their successes and failures in achieving those goals, ultimately share a set of core aims for their electorate: Stability Economic Growth International Respect Basic Service Delivery Education Healthcare Food Security Crime Reduction Etc. They differ in that the DA wants to start with the prosperous, stable areas and grow them outwards to incorporate the poorer, less stable areas from the islands outward while preventing the bad areas from getting too much worse before the islands can incorporate them and the ANC wants to start in the least stable areas and uplift them so they match the islands while merely maintaining the standards as they are in the already stable prosperous areas, or at least not allowing them to decline too much before the troubled areas can match them. The timescales and priorities differ, but not which goals are actually on the list. The EFF and MK aren't working towards the same list of goals at all. To put it another way, the DA and ANC both want good roads everywhere; the DA wants to start building from the busy commercial hubs outward gradually towards the poor suburbs, the ANC want good roads starting in the poorest suburbs that will eventually connect to the rich commercial hubs. Municipalities run by the DA set up a fully functioning bus network in the city centre and gradually expand to the further, poorer suburbs, stopping the trunk just outside the main entrance to the suburb, ANC municipalities will build a ton of bus stops in a far suburb and put in a trunk road that all stops in a Central point in the nearest city. Both sides want bus services, easy access to jobs, economic growth, good property values, safe living environments for their electorate first.

The reporter keeps asking what will happen to the people and who will lead them to better times. And the guest speakers keep talking politics and economics. Should we take it then that they don't have an answer to the question because we have no strong leadership we can rely on?
