Absolutely LOVE this guest. Thank you so much Dr Chikane for injecting a dose of reality into this podcast. There have been so many MK guests who've come on here, and as you say, gaslight us into believing they're the answer to all of South Africas problems, when we've seen exactly who they were in the past. So enjoy listening to brilliant Black minds analysing our politics. Thanks for this podcast, I learn so much with every episode. But yoh! Your audience wasn't expecting THAT. Even YOU, Dr Mpofu-Walsh, have imagined MK with a possible majority in '29. Please God NO!

Brilliant conversation. Lots of food for thought. Thanks you Doctors - you give us hope that this young generation is not aggregated with the previous. South Africa is in your hands and you're the right guys for the job - even as catalysts. Dr Chikane it was great to meet you - your father was a lighthouse during the Apartheid years. You've got a new follower. Thanks to you and Dr SMWX.

Thanks SMWX for bringing Dr. Chikane. I'm not sure what to make of his analysis and what I see to be a complete adherence to, and belief in, the system of the status quo. I sense in his view somewhat of a complacency with what is, when we're at a time that demands radical transformation.
@js64312 ай бұрын
He is a scholar describing events and making predictions based on what parties have done in the past. He's not advocating for anything, just analysis and pointing out things. Radical transformation needs to come from us, the citizenry who are unhappy and want change. We need to keep people accountable when they steal our tax money or give contracts to their friends and allow children to die in pit toilets and our roads to go into disrepair. Or sell off our country to private individuals while they get fat and people are poor and starving.
@sabelwesihlengcobo12152 ай бұрын
@@js6431 I hear you. I even agree to the main extent. I don't however hear his criticism as objective as I'd like. It's hard for me to separate his from his father's Zuma criticism. He might not mention Zuma by name, but I hear the name nonetheless. The problem with this his MKP view is that it seems to devilise a faction of the ANC that has turned into the MKP thus automatically purifying the ANC that is called of Ramaphosa. His sounds like a Mbekism intellectual (so called Clever Blacks). Typical of a Frank Chikane offspring, in my view.

I agree with the guy in most of the things…but the MKP trying to rewrite history it’s crazy for me. Making a practical example: I watched Transnet at parliament presenting their recovery plan, to me it’s crazy how they referenced that they wanted to do better than the so called state capture years in which Transnet performed best. Now the Dr must tell me how Zuma and his team can’t do better if clearly the numbers aren’t lying and shows they can?
@ohlangeni2 ай бұрын
I have read what you wrote twice. You need to articulate your message better or just put it in point form because hhaikhona
@andile.ngcobo2 ай бұрын
Mshengu, I also watched those proceedings and I saw the current executive answering Molefe on how the cranes that were acquired by Transnet during that period ended up not meeting the goal for which they were acquired for. It's not as black and white as you make it seem and besides, Transnet is not the only SOE. There were a whole host of other entities that were completely run down over a period of time such as Denel, Petro SA, CEF etc. Much of the carnage at Eskom with regards to the construction of Kusile and Medupi happened during that period, budget ballooned from R80 Billion to over R300B. Go look at the GDP growth stats during the Zuma years and compare it with the Mandela and Mbeki years, see how we have been on a downward spiral ever since. The fact of the matter is, many of the problems that we are experiencing now such as unemployment are not new and didn't just suddenly appear yesterday. Zuma's administration failed dismally to grow our economy and fight unemployment, the number there are undisputed. Zuma and Ramaphosa together with the entire ANC have failed this country dismally in all aspects. Look at the mess Zuma left us with in the security cluster for instance, a corrupt and useless police force, heavily underfunded army, non existent State Security Agency and a totally dysfunctional National Prosecuting Authority.

Great analysis Dr Chikane, well we understand and acknowledge your reservations on some of us having served in the Anc and now as you put,we think we can do better in the Mk,in a way you make sense, but you'll also need to look deeper to all situations that look place in the period stemming 2010-2018, politics inside Anc, factionalism,intruders (external forces)led to corruption getting out of hand nuclear program by president Zuma and Russia which was shot down, Zuma National assembly lecture on the arrival of Van Reebeeck at the Cape, Zuma also led us to Bricks which the west did not take kindly,these are deep seated factor's which some of them made our country look bless and hopeless and i conclude that, this situation is a creation of neo liberalism in our country of pursuing the agenda to keep the status quo, we've learned from this and want to assist the country to abdicate from the position of hunger, joblessness, this can only be achieved by revisitting the constitution and creat a constitution designed to assist our situation as a country as opposed to trying to please white's at the expence of the poor,most of the young people were never interested in political issues even the educated one's,they felt everything is okay, not realizing what's going on but your analysis is correct, we'll be around to guide our Young people and of course prepare them for leadership in very near future
