Hello everyone, welcome to SA Today. On 2 February 2025, we will start today's video with a fire at Kalbaskraal near Malmesbury South Africa, today. Looting took place as onlookers stole the bottles, and some even stopped to load their vehicles with the loot. Then we move over to a rainy Dullstroom. Rain also in Witbank. Then, the amazing view from the top of Dorsberg at Meerendal in Durbanville, Cape Town. The Philharmonic Orchestra rehearsal at Cape Town City Hall. We stand at the top of Gifberg overlooking VanRhynsdorp. The Kogel Bay Resort near Rooi Els has been partially opened again for campers. We cruised along the MSC Musica to Marion Island this past week, and I will show you more videos from around South Africa.
The weather forecast across South Africa today is as follows:
Today, light showers are expected in various Western and Eastern Cape areas as a cold front moves through. Meanwhile, eastern South Africa, particularly the Lowveld region, will experience extreme heat, potentially exceeding 40 degrees Celsius. The east part of South Africa can also anticipate isolated thunderstorms, which may become more widespread over the escarpment areas, including portions of the Eastern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal, and the Highveld of Mpumalanga. The South African Weather Service has issued Impact-Based Warnings: Yellow Level 2 Warning. There is a risk of severe thunderstorms, which could result in damaging winds, hail, localized flooding in both formal and informal settlements, and potential damage to infrastructure across much of KwaZulu-Natal Province, the Mpumalanga Province, and northeastern regions of the Eastern Cape Province. Extremely high fire risk conditions are predicted for areas in the eastern Northern Cape Province. Heatwave conditions will persist in the Limpopo Lowveld, with elevated temperatures expected in Gauteng, parts of the West, the Free State Province, and the western Bushveld of Limpopo lasting until Saturday. Stay safe and remain updated on local weather conditions.
