South Africa's Shoprite introduces 40-cent meals

South African retailer Shoprite has launched a meal costing just 40 U.S. cents. The announcement followed news that South Africa had slid into recession and was seen as countering the negative national psyche and staying relevant. It is not your typical meal, but the chain says it is nutritional, protein packed and aimed at people who are seeing their disposable income diminishing daily

Why is Shoprite acting like they have innovated a NEW PRODUCT or they assisting our communities by a $0.40 or R5.20 meals really. *Signs!! these meals have been existing in our communities long before Shoptrite though of selling them and they have been selling at a lower price than theirs.

True, but we mist remember not all communities has this, there are communities where everything is expensive, but chances are there is a Shoprite close to them.

yes, but Shoprite is the biggest retailer in Africa. Mind you, the CEO and top management have this culture where they ensure that people have food security and just food. Shoprite is African first business, not like the other retailers
