@@ridethewind-ch I’ve just got itenary and they expect us to tip £40 per tour for the two of us for 4 weeks !? is that normal ?
@ridethewind-ch2 ай бұрын
@@l2r227 Yes, this is more or less the average. If I remember correctly we tipped $20 per person per day to be split between the driver and the tracker. It all depends on the experience they provide you :)

@@ridethewind-ch no disrespect to their work or you but i’m not doing that! Doesn’t a simple thank you work these days , we already paying a fortune - which they deserve but the tipping thing really puts me off

@@l2r227 I agree with you, I really don't like the tipping culture in general. I would like everybody to be paid a fair salary. In our tour I didn't see others tipping (we also did it very discretely, so maybe they did). Out travel agency said it was just a guidance, not mandatory and I didn't feel the pressure from the tour guide to tip them. So again, it's up to you based on the experience they provide you. We do pay a fortune for these tours but unfortunately very little of it reaches the hands of the people that really makes your experience worthwhile. When we handed over an envelope with the tip we've got a big reaction... a huge hug and smile that showed how much it meant for them, and also that perhaps not everybody do it. So, don't let that put you off, an African safari is an unforgettable experience, which is what you get when you pay for the tour. Anything extra should be based on how you feel, and/or can afford, no pressure (in my opinion).
