Love this. Please mention the pool of players in the running so that more of the legends receive recognition - few guys I remember having matriculated in 1998: - Gcobani Bobo at flank - jeezzz he was awesome similar to Bobby Skinstad - Ollie Le Roux was an absolute legend at school level playing prop - Percy Montgomery - anywhere in the backline - Gary Botha who was an absolute demon for Overkruin at flank (did play for Waterkloof in final year) - Tiaan Snyman at flyhalf (played Affies first team from St 8) - remember him winning Craven week for Bulls with a 50m kick from the corner - was an unbelievable player!!! - Hendrik Gerber at flank - David Manuel from Waterkloof - Bolla Conradie at scrumhalf - Chris le Roux at flank also from Waterkloof - Dion’O who played 1989 and 1990 SA schools

Hardus Engelbrecht there was a lot of debate with this one haha, all those players you mentioned were considered. For me personally leaving Tiaan Snyman off the list was hard but Gibbs was just that special - Snyman was also exceptional, wow he was a points machine! Sean Sharp and Luke Smith both Dale flyhalves were there as well in contention, like DP mentioned Terry Knickelbein was exceptional. Etienne Botha at center was a tough one to leave out, Bobo of course was there amazing player.... Clancy the selborne center was another! I mean there were loads of gigs there why I asked Old Tighthead for his help

Still believe Sam Gerber would have been a Springbok flyhalf. Played with him for Despatch high school. Uncle is Danie Gerber so the coach moved him to outside centre. He played flyhalf in St8 for the first team and I till today remember the magic he created on a field. He still did well in his rugby career but I feel we have missed something very special here.
