Well done for the lovely review of Durban. That is our hometown and we have been living in the UK for 16 years. Well done you too for taking on the bunny chow challenge. The bunny chow originates from the Indians in Durban. While what you ate on P&O in now way represents a bunny chow (shame on you P&O) but credit to Brogan and Benji for being such sports. Come to our house in the UK and we will treat you to a proper Durban Indian Bunny Chow. ❤

Hi, from South Africa. I have loved every video you have shared, it's been a highlight for me as to do a cruise overseas somewhere would be a dream. So glad you enjoyed your time at Tala Game Reserve. I highly recommend you visit SA, and spend time at a Big 5 game reserve. There is so much to see in our beautiful country. You will leave your footprints here ... and a piece of your heart. Visiting the Kruger National Park has always been one of our most favorite holidays. I'm a bit sad your world cruise is nearly over as it's been wonderful seeing the ports and also your at sea days on board.

Definitely, we didn't have any other choices for this trip in particular, but it's given us a good flavour and experience and made us extra excited and ready for a Big 5 one! Kruger National Park was mentioned by someone else too, we will look there. Thank you so much! I know, it's been life-changing in so many ways. We will forever be grateful for it x

So glad you guys had a blast on your trip! I did Madikwe Game Reserve in 2008 and it was magical! At night they took us out to a big bonfire and the tree were all full on lanterns and the drive back (we were always in roofless jeeps) it was so dark and the sky just lit up. I’ve never seen anything so beautiful and vast before! We went here from France and flew into Johannesburg then drove to Sun City (I think you guys would love this) then drove up to the reserve.

YAY!!! What a fabulous vlog! Slightly biased here as I live in Durbs. We hosted a dinner for an international conference for work at Tala and it was amazing! We had a large building overlooking one of the dams, so it was really amazing as the sun set. But when the staff offered to take 2 of us on a game drive - I nearly wet my pants. It was just incredible! Tyson, one of their rhino, was still a baby and we got to see him. Just adorable! A bunny chow is really native to Durban. Those working on the sugar cane fields just north of Durban, would have their lunch of curry put into a 1/4 loaf of hollowed out bread, which made it easier when working. But Durban curries are known to be really hot, with loads of spices and lots of chilli in them. There are still loads of take-aways which sell traditional bunnies. Flavours range from mutton, to chicken, to broad beans, to sugar beans etc. Then you get the hotel or restaurant versions, which are incredibly similar to what you had - however, I have not really seen them served with rice. Can't wait to see Cape Town... such a special place. Thanks again for a very special vlog!

We did a 5 day safari in just outside Kruger National Park. Stayed in a lovely small game reserve called Elandella. Saw all the big 5 either on there game reserve or when they took us to Kruger for the day. We had a game drive morning and evening. But had the opportunity to do day trips which we did one to Blyde Canyon and God's Window. Which was lovely to see some other areas. I couldn't recommend doing a safari more. It's been nearly 10 years since we did ours and is still one of my top holidays and not many weeks go where we don't talk about it! Just love everything about South Africa. In sure you will return one day and it will be a special trip. You've had a taste now! Xx

I’ve enjoyed seeing the world through your eyes. I’ve not been to Asia, I found your stops very informative. May need to add a few of your sops to our list. Two years ago we visited Cape Town and Victoria Falls on our own, had a great time. Those stops were followed by a 11 day safari in Tanzania, through 4 of their national parks. It was fabulous and breathtaking, I’ll never forge a minute of our trip. I would highly suggest a safari on the Savannah!

What a lovely vlog. We spent an amazing 2 weeks in SA last November and we loved our time in Durban in Umhlanga. You need to go back and do a proper 2-3 night stay in a game reserve. We did Nambiti reserve in Ladysmith staying at Lions Valley Lodge I’d highly recommend. Kruger is one of the most famous & larger ones though. We haven’t seen your Cape Town vlog yet but 7 days wasn’t enough time for us - we are going back again this Nov there was so much we missed out on. We also decided to get married there so it will be a wedding planning trip! So sad the vlogs are coming to an end they have been epic x

Brogan... loved this vlog it was sooo short not complaining I just could watch you for hours hahah😅 well as a South African you have to come back there is soooo much more to do and so many more animals to see ... highly recommend the Kruger National Park for an incredible big 5 , sunset experience. Also we have many cultures and foods here for you guys to try and it definitely is more than you can cover in a day trip 😅😅😅. Loved the vlogs and series as always ... oooo can't wait to see Cape Town and the haul 😮😮 Editing this toward the end of the vlog he he you have to also come back for a Lamb bunny chow and I like it with extra gravy and a carrot salad on the side... trust me when you see the actually size of it you won't want rice also ... the extra gravey is to dip your bread into ... it's a very indulgent meal but delicious 😂

Hi from South Africa! St Lucia which is a little outside Durban has loads of hippos. You can do a river safari and at night they walk around the town eating the grass off the sidewalks. Also closer to Cape Town - the Garden Route Game lodge does amazing safaris - we picnic'd inbetween giraffes. We took my inlaws from the UK to these places and they loved it.

I you fancy doing a safari I would recommend Kenya. My wife and I done a 5 day safari in the Masai Mara and it was fantastic. We went in September to coincide with the wildebeest migration and seen so many different animals including the big 5. Being only a few metres from a pride of lions is something we'll never forget. We went on a hot air balloon ride over the African plains which I can fully recommend as well. We travelled on to Mauritius for a week on the beach after Kenya which was also fantastic.

Hey, I did a Safari in 2018 in Kenya. Part of Fairmont Mara Safari Club. Which then had private Safari tours for guests of the Masi Mara. Lucky to be on a jeep with just family and a very personal experience. At the hotel the rooms are private safari style tents. Such a different experience. The tents overlook Mara river. So you get to see Hippos and Crocodiles. Would love to go back one day as we got to see the Big 5. It’s one to look into, it is a luxury 5 star hotel but can’t recommend enough. Hope you had an amazing time on your cruise. We did our first cruise to Caribbean with P&O in March. Ready to book our next one now.

Addo is a great elephant reserve not that far from Port Elizabeth Sth Africa. Where you can drive yourself around. Elephants can be as close as a metre away from you, also zebras, ostrich etc. You can't get out of your car except for designated view points. Went on my own but felt safe. Saw herds of elephants of all sizes, also a pair were fighting just up the track from me. Well worth a visit.

I’m so glad you guys had a good time in Durban! South Africa definitely has its fair share of problems, but when you catch it on a good day, it’s the best! The best place for ‘safari’ is definitely in Mpumalanga/Limpopo province in the Kruger National Park area. There are so many smaller reserves around the main park where you can see the big five daily. Oh, and Benji is correct… that’s not a traditional bunny chow 😂 It’s something similar to what you had, but it’s usually half a loaf of bread that’s hollowed out and filled to the brim with a curry. Can’t wait for Cape Town! I love seeing my country through other people’s eyes 🙌🏻

Oooh, Kruger National Park has been mentioned a few times, but I will research your specific suggestion. Thank you so much for sharing! You're right, we did expect curry, which certainly threw us off! We tried with what we had 😆 Next time, we will get a traditional one! Aww I love that. Hope you enjoy the Cape Town vlog next! xx

lol, you are right that was not a traditional bunny chow. I lived in Durban for nearly 40 years, before moving to the UK, and I can advise that a bunny chow is a 1/4 or even 1/2 loaf of unsliced bread which has been hollowed out and filled with either chicken, mutton or beans curry and then the hollowed out bread placed on top. It is normally served with sambals (a tomato, onion and chilli ‘relish’) and, for those who are not keen on heavy spice, some good old Mrs Balls Chutney!
