South Africa's biggest problem in 2003 was their dwindling pace in bowling. Since 99 World cup Kallis, Pollock, Klusener had dropped their pace by 5-6 k's with aged Donald bowling 130kph dollies. Only Ntini was clocking early 140's which nearly wasn't enough to threaten quality sides..

Wi were weak to spin bowlers thats why they lost that match due to murlitharan's magical spin. Only lara ,hooper ,chnderpaul ,sarwan manage to play spin but they also failed that day ..
@juanestadian847111 ай бұрын
@@tiiiitu2392 Lara wasn't dismissed by murali...he was dismissed by vaas. Sarwan got knocked out cold soon after, and hooper, who was the best player of spin of the four got dismissed lbw the delivery after. Chanders had the game by the scruff but the team management didn't tell him that sarwan was coming back As a result, chanderpaul took risks that he really didn't need top take because he didn't know Sarwan, a more attacking player than him, was coming back. And sarwan came back and nearly won the game for us. had the team management been more competent, we'd have won that game and gone into the super sixes secttion of the tournament. It underlined though that the WI were one of the best limited over teams in the world at the time, emphasized by the fact that we won the next ICC trophy, the 2004 Champions trophy

@@tiiiitu2392powell couldn't play spin. destroy is exaggerating because WI only fell 8 runs short. they'd have cruised to that target if sarwan and chanderpaul were at the wicket. which could have happened had the team management communicated with chanderpaul that Sarwan was on his way to the ground escorted by police. To me thy seemed to be the only ones who didn't know, because the commentary team, i remember specifically it was Ian Botham on the mic announcing that Sarwan was not only coming back to the game, but on his way to Newlands in a police escort

@@juanestadian8471 Yeah powell couldn't play spin that time ,but he was a famous pinch hitter that time after klusener & afridi. He smashed many great bowlers of that era like mcgrath,lee,gillipse,akhter,bond,wasim akram ,waqar unis,donald,ntini,pollock,kallis,klusener,flintoff,anderson & many fast bowlers. He played very well opposite fast bowlers but failed to understand spin orelse He would have been a greater batsman than Gayle,gayle was a defensive opener that time, he attacked bowlers then but not like later danger gayle,hinds was more dangrs then gayle those days ... now in legends leauge & some other t20 platforms for retired players ricardo powell performed very well opposite spin bowlers in indian pitch,he is now understand spin . Everyone was support south africa that day . Zulu klusener pull out sa from deep well to level the score with aus but due to donalds misunderatanding they lost everything . He saved sa dozens of matches in the last moment.. no 1 hard hitter of that era . Aftr him ricardo powell & shahid afridi cme. In my opinion there is no player till now born like klusener . Dnt count todays generation batsman with 65 mt ground , big bats, flat pitches , drs powerplay...that time ground perimeter was 90 mt or above , in 90mt ground with small bat ,no drs powerplay shit,unpredictable pitches ,fearful bowlers like akhter,lee,bond who throw ball at the speed of 160kmph . Still he hit them all hard , He was such a pinch hitter . Legend
