Hey guys! Just a few more tips I forgot to mention: Smile throughout the whole day. If your cheeks aren't hurting, you are doing it wrong. Make friends and chat with everyone. Show that you are approachable and easy to talk to. If you don't know what to talk about, then ask people questions about themselves. Some people love to talk about themselves. Do look the part. Be well groomed, wear make up but stay away from the fake eye lashes and too much contour! Have your hair up in a neat ponytail but preferably a bun and make sure that your nails are neat and clean. No long, or chipped, or claw shaped nails and have either a pretty soft pink or a red or nude or clear colour. Do wear heels, they don't have to be high, but if you do wear high heels make sure you can walk in them. And I don't mean being able to not fall over, but walk in them while having a great posture. Wear clothes that make you look professional, like a skirt (the hem must be at least at your knees or right above. No short skirts, the same goes for dresses) and make sure that your top or shirt isn't revealing and that your underwear won't show through the shirt. You don't have to wear a blazer, sometimes it just finishes the look but it isn't a must. And that is all for now. Good luck! x

hii Margot! I’m an 11 year old girl whose so excited to grow up and finally become a flight attendant for emirates. Do they do interviews online or in person? Do they offer accommodations before the Golden call. If not then where do we stay? Also is the interview questions easy and how can I already prepare myself? Do I need perfect teeth? Sorry if the questions are a lot but you’re videos inspire me so much!
@margotindubai2 жыл бұрын
Hello! I love the enthusiasm and hope you don't ever loose it! The interview can be done in person or online, it depends on what they want. You get the Golden Call first, then ask when is the earliest time you can join, then you'll receive medical forms that your doctor has to sign off, then you'll get your visa plus plane ticket and you will also learn the name of the acommodation you will stay in. You do not need perfect teeth, I've flown with many crew who don't have perfect teeth. However there are a lot of dentists in dubai that offer crew discount to do things like invisaline and so on to get perfect teeth :) I'm not bothered by your questions! I'm so happy you're inspired!

Hey Margot . Thank you so much for this video.It’s really thoughtful and helpful . What advice would you recommend to include in your cv when applying ? Thank you.
@margotindubai4 жыл бұрын
Hi Shaakir! Thank you for the lovely compliment! I would suggest keeping it to a maximum of two pages, however the best would be 1 page. I have started with a list of my 5 best skills like "proven relationship builder with excellent interpersonal skills, highly adaptable, positive, resilient, enthusiastic, dynamic and eager to meet challenges and so forth. And then I moved on to my experience. Any experience that you have that is related to the job that you are applying for, add those. The rest you can leave out. Make it easy to read. Do add languages that you speak as those could help you but only if you are fluent in spoken, written and reading. And then just make sure that it is free of any spelling or grammar mistakes. :) Best of luck!!

My fellow South African 🇿🇦🇿🇦 Hi Margot 👋👋I love your videos, you're amazing, I've got two questions for you 1. Do you think its possible to study part time while your a flight attendant? 😬 And two 2. Well you know how most people would dress semi formal or formal to an job interview right, well I'm was wondering if its the same thing to an assessment day? Can't wait to hear from 😁
@margotindubai2 жыл бұрын
Hey fellow SAFFA! So nice seeing people from my country on here! 1. You can absolutely study something part time, however if you have exams you'll have to write and ask if you can have the day off or if you can put in leave for the day to write your exams. 2. I would say to dress up formal, and don't be afraid to be overdressed. Stand out from the normal black skirt and white shirt because everyone is going to wear that. I wore a black dress that was very nicely fitted and a blazer over it and high heels that I felt very comfortable walking in. Don't be afraid to wear a dark red pretty shirt with a black skirt to shake things up a bit. It'll match red lipstick very nicely too ;)

Hi Margot! Thank you so much for doing this video, I just came across it and it was by far the most informative video I have seen regarding this topic. I myself have applied for the job quite a few times but have still not received the interview email. Do you think it is maybe because of my CV? is there something specific I should add or avoid, perhaps my picture and such? I have been trying for 6 months now and have had no luck yet. Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks. xx

Hi, did you have any luck with the online application? I applied for the first ever time a couple weeks ago and was rejected. First of all i know i'm probably too young (nearly 20) , but i also don't think i uploaded the right kind of photo or had the right key words in my CV. I hope i will be accepted when i try again towards the end of next year when i'll be coming up to the age of 21 :)

Hi Margot. Thank you for a beautiful and informative video! Do you have colleagues that have kids? I've been doing my research and every channel I've watched that has shared their experience/journey do not have kids and Google also has nothing on airlines and flight attendants with kids. 😅
@margotindubai Жыл бұрын
Hello! SO MANY! So some of them come to Dubai, and the kids stay with dad or grandparents in the homecountry at first and they try to visit as much as they can until the spouse can move to Dubai too. You can get a live out allowance if you have a direct relative living in Dubai that is on a resident visa. So if your husband can come over and get a job, and then get a resident visa, then you can apply for the live out. But unfortunately you can't bring your child with you and have them stay with you in the crew accommodation.

Margot, thank you for taking the time to make this video, it helped a lot! Now since it took you a few tries to get the job, was there a waiting period to reapply again? Also, you were able to pick your date of joining? thank you :)

Hala Tayeh Hi Hala! Aw thank you for taking the time to watch it! So if you make it to the final interview, the waiting period is 6months. I never made it past the 2nd round sometimes falling out at the cv drop off so I could immediately apply again. For the date of joining they will ask you if you need to give notice and if you are available for (insert date) if you need to sort out things first then you can ask them when the next possible date is and that will be fine. Best of luck!!

Hi tank you so much for your video. Quick question do you have to put your picture on the cv and add a cover letter?? Thank you
@margotindubai4 жыл бұрын
Hi Jessica! You are welcome! So you have to have a passport photo that they will ask you to staple on the top corner of your CV. I definitely had a cover letter for the online application, but my CV’s layout started with my personal information, then I put a few strengths in bulletpoint form so that the first thing they can see is: I’m great at solving problems, or I excel at talking to a room full of strangers and anything else that would be a great trait to have for this job. Then I went on to my education and then past job experiences. If you are applying online DO add a cover letter, if you drop your CV off, they dont have time to go through your letter. So rather practice what you’d like them to know about you and then if they ask something you are ready. ❤️

@margotindubai3 жыл бұрын
That's a good question! So for an example, what would you do when a couple on board tells you they are on their way for their honeymoon? Are you going to say ahh congrats then walk away? Or will you try to get a few treats and make something special for them to enjoy? If you choose the second option, that is you going above and beyond. Making customers feel welcome and special. When they are on board, it is part of their journey. to wherever they are going and we want to make sure htey have a great experience and want to come back. :)

Ok I have a few questions. Firstly, do people that wear prescripted glasses get disqualified? Is that something that can they can disregard when applying?, also, with the medical assessment, what kind of tests do they conduct? Once you get to Dubai, how long is the training for before you can officially fly?
@margotindubai2 жыл бұрын
We have many people who wear glasses! They just need to have an extra pair and it needs to be according to the guidelines to still look professional. They just take your hight and weight, check your blood, test your pee (no drug and alcohol policy) and you get a few shots if you haven’t gotten them already like yellow fever vaccine, and so on. You’ll get a full list of it before you join in dubai. The training is for two months and it is free. ☺️

Hi, do you know if you have to move that quickly if you get accepted for the job? Just wondering because if the only time I can apply in South Africa is in September, I will only be completing my degree in March the following year so would I only be able to apply in the year that I graduate? Of course none of this matters if you can apply during other months..

Hello! They are recruiting year round, so apply online, and wait to get an invite to an assessment day, and if you get the golden call, you can choose when you want to move to Dubai as long as it is within 6 months of your golden call, otherwise you have to do it all over again. So wait a little bit until it is closer to March and then apply.

Hi and welcome! So I can’t remember what I said exactly. I think I helped a girl get her passport as it hasn’t been delivered after getting her visa, and I called the people and the delivery people and it wasn’t part of my job or my responsibility to do that. If you don’t have any experience in customer service where you did that, explain how you held a surprise party cor a friend or when someone was having a bad day how you did something special for them to cheer them up. We do things as cabin crew when people are going on a honeymoon or going to celebrate a birthday, we try to make it a special experience for them however we can. Sometimes we have treats, we make cards and have all of the crew sign it and we take polaroid photo’s. That’s part of going above and beyond. Some people have medical emergencies on board and go the the hospital and some crew have gone to visit the people in the hospital during their layover and have taken flowers... so yeah basically things where you do something for someone that is not expected of you. :)

Don't worry about the gap, I've seen many crew with gaps/imperfect teeth. However wait until your braces are off otherwise it will count against you :)

Hi Margo💕 I hope u doing well. I was looking for a south African flight attendant vlog an I came across your blog I'm greatful by this. I am 16 my dream is to became a cabin crew member ,an I'm worried because my height is not accurate. Please tell me if its really important.
@margotindubai3 жыл бұрын
Hello!! Welcome to my channel! So, height becomes an important factor when you need to close the hatracks, reach the containers in the galley and pull it out and put it back in, and to reach some of the safety and emergency equipement stowed in the hatracks. You can start doing stretches like pilates or yoga. I have heard great things about people who actually got a bit taller or maybe their reach improved as well as their posture which assisted in them being a bit taller. Give it a try! If you can't reach the sticker on the wall they won't put you through to the next round.
