i have fond memories in my childhood of riding similar trains around at shows and even our local park. its a shame you dont seem them anymore. we were fortinate enough recently to visit esperance and they have an amazing miniature train line around there parks and foreshore area that's well worth a visit.

Wonderful, I have 6 SAR locos from 3.5" gauge up to 7.14" gauge. I was a fireman on SAR for many years and worked many 15Fs in my time. I plan to be in Melbourne in 2022 when I ride my motorcycle from Scotland to Australia. Also there is an ex SAR steam driver down there in Melbourne who would love to see this model. His name is Allen Johnstone and he still works on the Puffing Billy Railway. Hope to meet you in 2022. Have a look at my clips in my KZbin under Adventurescot

I did my apprenticeship as a Steam fitter with Puffing Billy , I haven't seen Allen for some time , more than welcome to organize a meeting when your in Melbourne

I'm curious as to why the valve gear appears to be set in reverse but the loco is going forwards. Are they piston valves? Oh, and by the way - it's beautiful. :)

Yes they are piston valves, valve setting would be dictated by inside or out side admission, thanks for taking the time to comment.
